What do you call a man with no body, arms or legs swimming in the sea?

Colliecross · 25/07/2010 05:13

I know a Barbara called Bob

ponceydog · 23/07/2010 19:36

3 dobbys my arse.

I knew a Bobby. A lovely boy.

jobobpip08 · 23/07/2010 19:25

Oh DJ fancy seeing you here!

Huge thumbs up from me! DS1 is Bob, but registered Robert. DH choice - Bob Paisley was 'the best football manager never knighted'. Bitter? No.....

He is the only one I know over here and it really suits him. Some of the kids at school call him Bobby which really grates on me, but I can't do anything about that.

I shall save Blackadder for when he's older - I can now remember the 'Bob' bit cropping up in a maths class problem when I was 15! (Only 4 channels then...)

meadowlarks · 14/07/2010 18:43

Oh, yes, and I thought of Blackadder too

meadowlarks · 14/07/2010 18:43

If you love Bob then just call him Bob! One of my best friends is a girl whose initials are B.O.B. Everyone calls her Bob. So maybe you could go first name Brian middle names Oswald Bertie Juuust kidding. Honestly though, there is nothing wrong with just naming your child what you want to name your child, who cares if Bob isn't fashionable?

DuelingFanjo · 14/07/2010 17:20

Just seen these responses.

I am still stuck on Bob and wouldn't ever ever use Bobby.

Why is it silly?

" I fancy I know what a gentleman keeps in his tights, young Bob"

hocuspontas · 14/07/2010 16:34

Yes! "Kate, short for, urm, BOB!"

seeker · 14/07/2010 16:31

"I want you to be my......live-in chum"

00000000000000 · 14/07/2010 16:24

ye evil twins i did think that!!!

EvilTwins · 14/07/2010 16:24

Or was that Kate short for Bob? My memory fails me.

EvilTwins · 14/07/2010 16:24

Kate.

Blackadder anyone?

hocuspontas · 14/07/2010 16:23

Call him anything you like and just use Bob as a nickname. There are no rules on using Bob!

00000000000000 · 14/07/2010 16:22

Yes, there are 3 Dobby's in my DS's class - they have to call them Dobby 1, Dobby 2 and Dobby 3 ???

i think you are yanking our chains!

please don't call your baby bob. it's silly.

valiumSingleton · 14/07/2010 16:21

Battery Operated Boyfriend (BOB)
a term used more in the USA than the UK I believe. Don't shoot the messenger.

valiumSingleton · 14/07/2010 16:20

What's wrong with Robert ? Robbie is nicer than Bob imo.

seeker · 14/07/2010 13:58

Oh don't be silly, you can't call a baby Bob.

Call him Robert, then he's got a whole range of shortenings to choose from. Including Bob.

LuluF · 14/07/2010 13:53

Bob reminds me of Twin Peaks...

pranma · 13/07/2010 21:01

Robson-like Robson Green the actor

Hedwig3 · 13/07/2010 19:34
