33 weeks and no idea on girl's name whatsoever!

I'm 33 weeks now, and we don't know the sex of the baby. We are all set on the boys name (have picked 4 names as a short list then will decide when he's born), but we have no idea at all for girl's names.

Am I the only one out there that is getting close to the due date and still does not have a clue on names?

I's love something unusual which doesn't try to hard or isn't pretentious. Where do I head for inspiration?

Thanks all!!

I love your dh's list, except Chloe which I'm not so keen on.

The only one I like on your list is Aoife - lovely.

Thanks for the shortlists. Of course, I am the wrong person to suggest girls names as I can never find any that I love for myself.

My Dad is a Hugh and his sisters are Angela and Susan but those sound v plain compared to your 2 sets of girls names.

I know a Michael whose brother is Alexander. Do you like Alexandra? Good nn potential.

Michaela?

Hope someone more useful is along shortly.

Munchmummy- that's the position myself and husband are in- we seem to like different names, so we'll both have to 'settle' with something in the middle (madeline is a lovely name i must say though!).

Our boys shortlist is:
Fergus
Hugh
Michael
Carter

That's in no particular order and we'll use one for first and one for second name...

The names I like are:
Greta
Erin
Aoife
Eliza

but I don't LOVE any of them

husband likes:
Chloe
Sophie
Charlotte
Violet

but he doesn't LOVE any of them either- basically we're just clueless!

Had loads of boys names, but only one girls name.
Had DD, so she was easy to name.
Had DD2, no idea what to call her even though we found out at the scan she was a girl at 20 weeks.

Ended up calling her Madeleine, but 2 years later I'm still not sure about it. Not a name I love. I wanted Rebecca, DH wanted Sandra, so Madeleine was a name neither of us loved, or hated so we went with it.

I call her Maddie/Madeleine but she can choose what to call herself when grown up (hence the longer name if she needs to be professional ever).

I was the same when expecting DC1 who turned out to be a boy. Maybe it was a sign that you will have a boy too? So, no you aren't alone. Infact DH and I agreed on boys names fairly easily but had opposite tastes in girl's names. Expecting DC2 in November, and facing the same dilemma.

Can you share the boys names shortlist and maybe someone will be able to help you find inspiration for a girl's name?

I have about 5 baby name books and there are lots of websites. Basically, everything I read or watch on tv I look out for names. I'm the opposite of you, I have girls names but no boys! Its hard to find unusual but unpretentious names, but I have a book called Cool Baby Names and another called New Age Baby Names which are a bit less mainstream- you can pick them up cheap on amazon.com.

Good luck!
