To think that freebleeding is a bit [envy]

I have just heard of freebleeding on here whereby no sanitary protection is used . I admit that i am open to most things but this The practicalities of it must be enormous you would never leave home. I know that it would not be for me as my periods are quite heavy, even with big sanitary pads I manage to leak over my trousers, on my legs. Once when i was out i leaked through my jeans, as i got off the bus i realised must have been on the seat aswell, imagine no sanitary protection.

How does someone manage outside the house where there is limited washing facilities, must be really uncomfortable and and messy. I will probably get flamed for my views but i am prepared and armed with my hard hat. I would try reusuable sanitary protection for later on in my period but no protection

Please see my post about 6 seconds before yours Wukter

wukter · 04/04/2010 23:57

Exactly!

It's only ok if my children do it. I don't want to be stepping over everyone else's effluents as I make my way to the chocolate lentil aisle.

wukter · 04/04/2010 23:54

I hate passing on our guilt and shame about our natural bodily fluids to our children, Valpollicella.

Valpollicella · 04/04/2010 23:54

Middle of M&S

LittleWukter:Mummy I neeeed to pooooo

Wukter: Just let it out darling. It's perfectly natural

Littlewukter:gnnn ..hhmpph... Done!

Wukter: Amazing! You free pooed! How naturally you expressed your bodily functions

Valpollicella · 04/04/2010 23:51

Free shitting an all that Wukter

wukter · 04/04/2010 23:49

Conditioning...how can we break the cycle?

I just won't bother potty training DD. Simply remove her nappies. I suggest you all join me.

Valpollicella · 04/04/2010 23:49

But who has the time to be a free bleeder? SAHM or WOHM there is no way any of us could spend time bleeding into straw...

strandedatsea · 04/04/2010 23:44

Dammit I read the whole of this thread hoping that someone would come on and say "what are you all so worried about? I am a free bleeder, so shoot me" and we could all be

Incidentally I also have read Red Tent.

Quattrocento · 04/04/2010 23:42

Ah but wukter, you need to understand that you've been conditioned to think like this. A month or two of freebleeding would soon get you thinking that it's just the way things ought to be, were we not so blinkered ...

wukter · 04/04/2010 23:41

It's bad manners to smear your bodily fluids everywhere. That's my objection.

pigletmania · 04/04/2010 23:40

I dont envy freebleeding btw would absolutely hate to be covered in blood for a week, staying in the house not able to come out, all the laundry required and numbers of black knickers i would need i find it hard even with sanitary protection let alone without.

Notanumber if you have read my posts i was looking for a vom boak emotion, thought that i could put a green icon in my title which i could not hence the envy in between brackets my mistake

ROFL at this.

When it becomes socially acceptable to walk around with huge bloody patches pretty well all over my clothes, I'll take up the cause of freebleeding. That'd be a testament to my feminism.

While I'm at it, I'll campaign for free dry cleaning for the results of my freebleeding.

The bills would be pretty enormous though. Not just my clothes, but my chair at work, my cars, my sofas, my bed ... I'd need a new mattress every month.

Valpollicella · 04/04/2010 23:26

O just google reusable sanpro Pooh... lots out there!

Poohbearsmom · 04/04/2010 23:22

Nemofish boobs of steel! each to their own like but hav to agree with all the "yucks"! Blood stained clothes & sheets wud not be my idea of embracing my womanhood... great thread tho, cheered me right up am too completely clueless bout mooncups & had never heard of reuseable sanitary protection! what a super idea, i would be very interested to learn more where can i find that other thread about them??

notanumber · 04/04/2010 23:17

pigletmania, I am a picky old cow I know, and it's totally me and not you, but you do know that envy actually means jealousy rather than nausea, don't you?

Sorry, sorry. I know it's a) totally off the point and b) picky and pedantic to point it out but that's why people are confused by your thread title, and you keep using the envy emoticon to indicate 'yuk' rather than, umm, 'envy'.

I didn't know if you were just confused or if you're using it in the absence of a 'boak' emoticon because it's green and pukey looking. Actually, maybe MNHQ should provide a 'boak' emoticon.

I'm not getting at you, honest. I just thought I'd point it out in the event that you've made a mistake as I prefer to be told when I'm doing things "wrong". Which happens all the time - feel free to point out the (no doubt myriad) errors in this post! .

ifancyashandy · 04/04/2010 23:03

Ummm... am I weird to not be bothered by my period? It comes along same time every month. I use tampons. Am prepared for it. Get slight cramps - nothing too painful. Not really a bother. Quite 'like' the reminder of gender. Don't use a mooncup (but can see the eco benefits). Would never use a washable pad (sorry if that offends). I have had some very heavy. Some not so much. Just accept it. Only SERIOUSLY wish that all sanitary protection was free. Tax on gender and all that...

Kaloki · 04/04/2010 23:03

"uy your own flour? Not me! I grow my own wheat in the cups of my bra, use my norks to turn it into flour and voila! Home made flour! Aha! Beat that the rest of you!"

Best mental image ever!! lol

BertieBotts · 04/04/2010 23:02

Well nobody's making anyone do it, I wouldn't get so het up about it Clearly people who do this don't find it any harder or less pleasant than using a product to collect the blood, or why would they bother?

Nemofish · 04/04/2010 22:42

I feel like banging my head against a brick wall... yes lets just fuck up any helpful advances made in the last few thousand years, eh? Sod tampons / pads / mooncup / reusable protection, I'll hang around on some straw / over a bucket for 4 or 5 days and just 'let nature take it's course, man.'

Aargh! Not aiming this at anyone btw, but why is people want to make being a woman any harder than it already is? Why do we (well, not us, but you know, the general we) spend time making stuff up to do? Buy your own flour? Not me! I grow my own wheat in the cups of my bra, use my norks to turn it into flour and voila! Home made flour! Aha! Beat that the rest of you!

EricNorthmansmistress · 04/04/2010 22:37

water on the outside of you can't stop your uterine lining from leaking out of you. It leaks, it leaks, whatever substance happens to be touching your skin.

Think about it...

Maleeka · 04/04/2010 22:22

Its just ewwww frankly! I was just telling my OH about this thread and he was making the vom face

I mean, how would you go about your daily duties, with a red streak running down your legs!

missmoopy · 04/04/2010 22:21

Joey, yes they do. Everywhere!

HeatherTrott · 04/04/2010 22:15

I thought it was cold water that stopped you bleeding...but I've never tested the theory.
