One thread didn't seem enough to get across just how VILE Parma Violets are.

I'd rather eat floury, talc-flavoured, pebbles from the back of my granny's wardrobe.

YUK.

AllGoneSouth · 28/10/2009 20:55

Oh and I forgot:

Licorice/turkish delight/coconut = vom

TheBlairSnitchProject · 28/10/2009 20:55

Smell of tea makes me feel quite queasy too - as for coffee, that makes me actually sick!

We have neither in our house.

Parma violets are always welcome though

cakeywakey · 28/10/2009 20:54

YANBU - you are just big, fat wrong

Sweeties that taste like perfume - yum! I love Parma Violets.

AllGoneSouth · 28/10/2009 20:53

Parma Violets = meh

Sprouts = boak

anything fishy (other than salmon or a nice battered cod from the chippy) = double boak

Tea = horrid stuff, can't even stand the smell .

Crackopenthebaileys · 28/10/2009 20:52

fruitbat your bleurgh list looks divine to me (
apart from the liqourish vomit)

Longtalljosie · 28/10/2009 20:52

Small Parma Violets - lovely
Big ones - passable, but nowhere near as nice
Tea - essential
Oysters - wonderful
Whelks - like eating rubber bands with vinegar

YABU

Parmaviolet milkshake mmmm

Fruitbatlings · 28/10/2009 20:47

Tea is over-rated

Fleecy · 28/10/2009 20:46

Am feeling bleurgh at the thought of blue cheese ice cream but stand proudly by my sprout-loving declaration!

Never tried tripe though...

teameric · 28/10/2009 20:46

YANBU they taste nasty, I love the smell of them though.

lindsaygii · 28/10/2009 20:45

Oysters are great.

Whelks are like eating typing rubbers. Disgusting.

I've had blue cheese ice cream once, on holiday in Guernica (no it wasn't a dream). It should have been awful but was actually OK.

EsmeWeatherwax · 28/10/2009 20:44

One of my friends told me that Parma violets were invented by a paedophile, as if you needed another reason to hate them! They are vile...

MmeGoblindt · 28/10/2009 20:42

How can you not like tea?

pigletmania · 28/10/2009 20:42

They are yummy yum num num, brings me back to a bygone era.

MmeGoblindt · 28/10/2009 20:42

YABVVVU

I had violet ice cream in a very posh ice cream shop in France this summer and it tasted like parmaviolets. I kept exclaiming 'it tastes like parmaviolets' to the bemusement of my American friends

Btw, the word recognition thingy on my iPhone knew parmaviolets. There must be a techy at Apple who likes them.

Fruitbatlings · 28/10/2009 20:41

I've thought of another seeing as we're on the subject of luxurious foods.......

Anything slimy - like Oysters and Muscles

MadameDuBain · 28/10/2009 20:36

Yes I hate caviare too. It is the fishiest fishy stinky fish taste ever, like a disgusting old rotting dead sardine. How anyone ever decided it was luxurious and worth loads of money is beyond me.

lindsaygii · 28/10/2009 20:36

Floral gums should be banned under the European Convention. What's the point of having Human Rights if they still sell stuff like that in sweet shops?

OP posts:
hocuspontas · 28/10/2009 20:34

Can you actually buy them separately or are they just used for bulk in variety packs?

But YANBU they are disgusting. It's against the Trades Description Act to call them sweets. And children NEVER pick them from the said variety packs and scream if all the others are gone. Poor things

Fruitbatlings · 28/10/2009 20:34

Tea is totally pointless....
At least you get a hit from a good cup of coffee

chickbean · 28/10/2009 20:32

I don't think I have ever had parma violets, but I think I wuld probably like them. My favourite sweets are floral gums and cherry lips.
