Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · Today 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

It’s hardly prim and proper to have a bit of class.

No we dont do class just get it on. Never have come across loud noises could be in Airbnbs and cheaper hotels. Bangs away maybe you should let loose for once

I find it hard to believe that so many PPs would excuse this behaviour. It is thoughtless and selfish, just as if they were shouting swearwords or playing loud music. And the point about being away from the kids when you could be in earshot of other people’s kids is just plain dumb. Some hotels are soundproofed and advertise themselves or are reviewed as such. If you want to be noisy, book into one.

Absolutely this.

HelpMyBlackLabradorVotesReform · Today 17:59

Some people are just exhibitionists. They get a kick out of people listening. No different to people who go dogging.

This thread is really depressing.

  • There's nothing wrong with sex noises;
  • female orgasms are very powerful and often result in totally loss of control and accompanying moans/squeals/shrieks;
  • we're a weird anomoly in human history where everyone thinks we've a right to pristine personal space and silence. Go back a couple of hundred years and your forbears were banging with their own kids, parents, in laws and probably servants or employers in the room with them.

It's
Just
Sex.

The end.

You literally talk in your last paragraph about forebears doing stuff with their own kids and then end your post with “It’s just sex”. Really?

Maybe they’re having an affair. Not known for their self-control and all that…😉

Agreed, on all points.

Agreed. It's so fake and performative.

Must be so cool being you.

There is nothing remotely depressing about not wanting to hear other people having sex, particularly in the early hours or worse, when you have kids who can hear.

There is nothing wrong in our objection to that.

Just to let other people know that they can still.get sex. In my experience it's usually the folks.on their 50's or 60's who are the most guilty of this..

SusieSussex · Today 17:40

All of this.

Pandering to children is every parents’ prerogative, but expecting every other person in the vicinity to do the same is ridiculous.

I remember being on a train where a woman with Tourette’s kept repeatedly shouting the N word. Everyone on the train minded their own business but a family made a big show of moving their kids down the carriage. Instead of using it as an opportunity to perhaps educate their children about the disability and about empathy, they made complete tits of themselves and taught their kids that it’s okay to humiliate a disabled person to avoid mild discomfort because their needs come first.

And yes, I know swearing is involuntary in this case and sex noises perhaps are not, but complaining about hearing ‘ball slapping’ through thin walls and loud bed noises - what’s the couple supposed to do, silent positions only? Limit their fucking to on the floor?

Bizarre to think that not subjecting kids to hearing noisy sex is pandering to them. If you follow that logic people may as well have noisy sex with their own kids in the next room at home.

Askandyforcompo · Today 17:38

It's interesting. The tenants we have now were paying £2600 a month for a one bed flat in London before they moved to ours- 2 bed house with 2 bathrooms and 2 beautiful gardens for £1800. Their income is £90k a year and they are leaving because they miss London. So they're going back to a one bed flat for £2800 a month. Our first tenants stayed 5 years and we didn't put the rent up. Their joint income was £100k. My friends daughter is on £50k as a graduate trainee, her partner earns more and they are in rented, same flat for 2 years, saving to buy.

I guess I'm wondering where all these people are now? It could be because flats are much cheaper these days as people are struggling to sell them. In fact I've just answered my own question and that's why!

sweetpotatopie2 · Today 17:36

My best guess is either they're either too drunk to realize that others are being forced to hear their activities OR they're getting a kick out of knowing that others can hear their activities.

I mean no one has to be noisy during sex, a lot of it is purely performative, I cringe when people scream the place down, and then say they can't help it Hmm like really? It's completely uncontrollable and involuntary?? I dont mean the odd noises or quiet noise but the ones who scream and shout so loud you can hear from miles away its clearly a choice to be that noisy 🤣 I get that a hotel people maybe shouldn't need to avoid being noisy but I think out of basic respect of others in the nearby rooms its reasonable to expect a bit of noise control Grin

I can’t get too mad about a one or two night stay at a hotel. I don’t enjoy listening to it but it is what it is, unless it was going on non stop then I’d leave them to enjoy themselves 😅

Unfortunately though this is also my neighbor. They moved in about 9 months ago, back in the spring/summer her OTT daily performative sex was ridiculous that I had to tell her and noted every single day, timings and words she was screeching. She also had her windows open so you would see a couple of us looking out our windows trying to figure out where it was coming from, then after a couple weeks I realised it my next door neighbor.

She was also pregnant which was impressive that she was still so active right up until her final weeks.
It wasn’t even the noisy sex in itself that bothered me, it was the time, it would always start around 2am and wake me up. I got so pissed off in the end I told her we could all hear her and it was OTT, she said she felt embarrassed and didn’t realise she could be heard so clearly?!?! 🙄 really?!! I mean your windows are all wide open and you are screaming and groaning at a time where even in London you can hear a pin drop.

have all the loud sex you want but once it hits midnight then shut up, as you said no one needs to be loud and screaming down the place. Since she’s had the baby a couple months ago I have only heard her once and not heard anything since ( thank goodness)

The Turkish man I had sex with, the sex was shit. Utterly focussed on his pleasure only. Honestly it was text book stereotype of sex with a man from a misogynistic culture. He seemed genuinely shocked that I had no interest in repeating the experience.

I'm not surprised he was shocked! Turkish men know that we find them irresistible so he probably couldn't believe you didn't want any more. Sounds like you had a rare bad experience though, I wouldn't generalise all Turkish men like that because they are generally very good in bed.

To be honest, I couldn’t give a shit. I’m really not going to fuck in silence at all times, just on the vague off-chance that one of the hotel rooms near by might contain a random child. Adults are allowed to do adult things in hotel rooms.

All of this.

Pandering to children is every parents’ prerogative, but expecting every other person in the vicinity to do the same is ridiculous.

Good for you, but I can't be quiet during sex unless I consciously force myself to not make a noise, in which case I'm focusing on keeping quiet instead of relaxing and enjoying myself...which really takes away from the experience. So unfortunately, I think I've been guilty of loud sex in hotels myself.

Let me know which one next time lol
