Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · Today 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

What others have said. Also exhibitionism.

I like to join in with the grunting but on the off stroke. Really puts them off their timing.

Or you could shout encouragement and give them a round of applause and marks out of ten at the end.

TheLastSilverSaint · Today 13:47

i don’t really understand why people have to be so noisy, surely some intimate whispering could be just as nice, if not nicer.

Each to their own but surely you realise that just because you think ‘intimate whispering’ is ‘nice’, not everyone is going to feel the same. Everyone’s different.

Intimate whispering’ sounds awful to me. Very much the preserve of people who call sex ‘making love’ 🤮

I wouldn’t say I was dramatically loud but certainly more than ‘intimate whispering’.

I'd say one of three. 1. They are caught up in the moment and don't realise 2. Don't care if people hear, or 3. Want people to hear and that is a turn on for them.

Why not?
How do you know kids aren't sharing a room with their parents next door to you.

If you're not prepared to inflict it on your own kids in your own home why would you expect another person's kids to have to listen to you banging away.

That’s a risk I’d be willing to take to be honest 😆 Some hotels are more of the family kind but others are not. Personally I’m not of the vocal kind but if I had booked a weekend away at a couples type hotel, then I wouldn’t really care.

BrickBiscuit · Today 13:41

I find it hard to believe that so many PPs would excuse this behaviour. It is thoughtless and selfish, just as if they were shouting swearwords or playing loud music. And the point about being away from the kids when you could be in earshot of other people’s kids is just plain dumb. Some hotels are soundproofed and advertise themselves or are reviewed as such. If you want to be noisy, book into one.

I stayed in a hotel once and the headboard banging the wall in the room above woke me up. I was just drifting back to sleep when they started again. When we were checking out the next morning, they checked out from room 223 and we were in room 123. It was as much as I could do not to tap them on the shoulder and ask if they'd had fun.

If they'd had any concern for other people, all they needed to do was lie across the bed instead of along it. They can't not have known, it was like someone hammering on the door at 2 in the morning.

To be honest, I couldn’t give a shit. I’m really not going to fuck in silence at all times, just on the vague off-chance that one of the hotel rooms near by might contain a random child. Adults are allowed to do adult things in hotel rooms.

Ottercave · Today 13:34

We stay in a lot of hotels and are quiet during sex. The beds, on the other hand, can make that much noise that the whole hotel could probably tell what we were doing. ☺️

That’s a them problem I’m afraid. Being a kid and hearing your own parents have sex is much worse than hearing strangers lol!

OccasionalHope · Today 13:32

Perhaps they don't realise how loud they are, or think the walls are thicker than they are.

localnotail · Today 13:28

You sound like you are envious ))

Why people have noisy sex in hotels - away from the kids and other stuff, some drinks, no worries about the neighbours as they will never see these people again, and simply couples having fun?

seventeenofsumday · Today 13:26

I mean no one has to be noisy during sex, a lot of it is purely performative, I cringe when people scream the place down, and then say they can't help it Hmm like really? It's completely uncontrollable and involuntary?? I dont mean the odd noises or quiet noise but the ones who scream and shout so loud you can hear from miles away its clearly a choice to be that noisy 🤣 I get that a hotel people maybe shouldn't need to avoid being noisy but I think out of basic respect of others in the nearby rooms its reasonable to expect a bit of noise control Grin

Why have noisy sex in a hotel room? Where else would have it? At home with the kids?

Maybe they think the soundproofing is better than it is?

Because noisy sex is best when in a hotel if you have kids at home

Seddu · Today 13:09

Sometimes it's because they want people to hear them. Some people like to be a bit exhibitionistic, and a hotel is a perfect opportunity to do it with fewer consequences (a level of anonymity/plausible deniability, plus they probably never have to see their "audience" again).

I'm not saying it's OK, mind you.

gerispringer · Today 13:09

i don’t really understand why people have to be so noisy, surely some intimate whispering could be just as nice, if not nicer. It’s a tad selfish to think other people want to hear your grunts and groans, which you do have a choice to make. I don’t want to hear people snoring or going to the toilet either, but you could argue that is less of a choice.

user1476613140 · Today 13:09

Good on them. I can only be noisy at home during a school day as we cannot get to a hotel room. There's nothing wrong with that. At least they are having a good time!

QueenMummyTheFirst · Today 13:08

I do agree with OP - it's pretty antisocial. I would be annoyed at being woken up to this.

I would also assume that they get off on being heard by other guests, and be annoyed at being dragged into their voyeur kink.

HoppityBun · Today 13:06

Half an hour? Blimey!

Branleuse · Today 13:05

Because they can't get pissed and have proper noisy sessions at home??

Yogafiend · Today 13:03

I have to agree with pp. It’s either because they have never had to be quiet or because they are having a night without the kids! Come on OP. Have you never had sex that was noisy?
