Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · Today 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

They're just letting loose.
At home with kids and the neighbours you do the polite thing and shove your face in a pillow and hope it does the job.

Bang on the wall?

Koriko · Today 13:56

Have never had this happen to me and I travel a lot, can't work out if my choice of accomodation is too miserable or too posh to excite fellow guests. Though one night I had a head cold, hotel phone rang, and I answered a nice-sounding woman speaking in the local language gruffly, took her a minute to work out I wasn't a man in need of services and hang up in a hurry!

To be honest, I couldn’t give a shit. I’m really not going to fuck in silence at all times, just on the vague off-chance that one of the hotel rooms near by might contain a random child. Adults are allowed to do adult things in hotel rooms.

I have to say that I agree with this. Hotels are noisy for all kinds of reasons.

DeftGoldHedgehog · Today 13:55

It's just tvs are often mounted on the party wall with the next door room..

I think mounting against the party wall could be the problem.

I've never been in this situation but I'd be tempted to play knock and run and keep interrupting them.

StuNur85 · Today 13:55

If I'm in a hotel on a Saturday night, I fully expect people will be having sex. I take my earplugs and don't hear a thing.

@DebbieSavage Maybe don't take your kids to a hotel if you don't want them to hear sex noises or anything else your puritan mind thinks is too distasteful for little Sebastian and Tiffany.

Parents shouldn't take their children on holiday... What a bonkers and looney perspective to have.

I agree with OP. People in general are too noisy. People in hotels want to sleep, so it makes sense for everyone to shut up.

Get a B&B or holiday home. Everybody knows hotels are for hookups and discreet sex without your partner being any the wiser. You are going to be exposed to people just wanting to have a good time. If you can't tolerate that then like I said, there are other options for you.

Seajaye · Today 13:52

I think possibly they do not realise the sound proofing levels isn't that great. I can often hear a TV on in the room next door room, though I wouldn't say the volume is loud. It's just tvs are often mounted on the party wall with the next door room..
You could knock loudly on the wall if you want to spoil their fun, and/or let them know the sound proofing levels isn't great. Of course they might think you banging on the wall was you having even more fun than them.

LeedsLoiner · Today 13:51

Play “Ohh Ahh Just a Little Bit” by GinaG on your phone as loud as you can and hold it against the wall…

StayGoldenPonyGirl · Today 13:51

I ended up with a room next to what sounded like a large group project. Felt like I was IN the orgy too. I phoned reception who said they couldn't do anything about it because they were footballers 🤔 i had to spend the next day at Porton Down working with bio-weapons with no sleep!

And it turned out my colleague also complained and got the same answer but got the detail that they were Barnsley FC players!

My work got the money refunded.

I once had to stand waiting for a lift with several other people while the room opposite were going at it, there was so little soundproofing you could hear his balls slapping. No one made eye contact the atmosphere was very awkward and when the lift arrived I’ve never seen so many people try to be first in! Do your thing but there’s no need to sound like you need an ambulance.

KnickerBockerGloriously · Today 13:49

It's selfish.

People nowadays and on this thread seem to lack manners and consideration for others.

So you don't mind other people's kids hearing it?

Only jealous people who get no sex seem to be upset at the prospect of hearing other people getting their rocks off I find. Same with people who complain about the smell of cannabis smoke, just get a life wow!

NewNameW · Today 13:48

You could play knock door run?

We stay in a lot of hotels and are quiet during sex. The beds, on the other hand, can make that much noise that the whole hotel could probably tell what we were doing. ☺️

Absolutely this.
No screaming going on.
But the bed is about to fall apart.

AmberTigerEyes · Today 13:47

Most good hotels have quiet floors these days. Just ask for a room on a quiet floor.

5128gap · Today 13:47

What others have said. Also exhibitionism.

I like to join in with the grunting but on the off stroke. Really puts them off their timing.

Or you could shout encouragement and give them a round of applause and marks out of ten at the end.

TheLastSilverSaint · Today 13:47

i don’t really understand why people have to be so noisy, surely some intimate whispering could be just as nice, if not nicer.

Each to their own but surely you realise that just because you think ‘intimate whispering’ is ‘nice’, not everyone is going to feel the same. Everyone’s different.

Intimate whispering’ sounds awful to me. Very much the preserve of people who call sex ‘making love’ 🤮

I wouldn’t say I was dramatically loud but certainly more than ‘intimate whispering’.

DeftGoldHedgehog · Today 13:45

I'd say one of three. 1. They are caught up in the moment and don't realise 2. Don't care if people hear, or 3. Want people to hear and that is a turn on for them.

LoveWine123 · Today 13:44

Shatteredallthetimelately · Today 13:26

Why not?
How do you know kids aren't sharing a room with their parents next door to you.

If you're not prepared to inflict it on your own kids in your own home why would you expect another person's kids to have to listen to you banging away.

That’s a risk I’d be willing to take to be honest 😆 Some hotels are more of the family kind but others are not. Personally I’m not of the vocal kind but if I had booked a weekend away at a couples type hotel, then I wouldn’t really care.

BrickBiscuit · Today 13:41

I find it hard to believe that so many PPs would excuse this behaviour. It is thoughtless and selfish, just as if they were shouting swearwords or playing loud music. And the point about being away from the kids when you could be in earshot of other people’s kids is just plain dumb. Some hotels are soundproofed and advertise themselves or are reviewed as such. If you want to be noisy, book into one.

Imdunfer · Today 13:40

I stayed in a hotel once and the headboard banging the wall in the room above woke me up. I was just drifting back to sleep when they started again. When we were checking out the next morning, they checked out from room 223 and we were in room 123. It was as much as I could do not to tap them on the shoulder and ask if they'd had fun.

If they'd had any concern for other people, all they needed to do was lie across the bed instead of along it. They can't not have known, it was like someone hammering on the door at 2 in the morning.
