Surprise 3rd baby but only 2 bed house

We live in a 2 bed shared ownership house in the south east so quite expensive area. Husband has a niche job he loves but cant rise much in pay. I work part-time but I'm also a full time carer to my parents. Both have long term conditions so unfortunately we don't have the possibility of moving any time soon or at all. We currently have a big main room that our 2 boys (15 and 8 years) used to share but we put a stud wall in to give both their own space. My husband and I are in a very small double room. There is no extra dining room, just lounge and kitchen. Being in a shared ownership makes any major extensions or loft conversions nearly impossible to get consent from the HA.
We love our house and location is spot on with schools, friends, clubs, work and parents living close. I have just found out that I'm pregnant (I'm 35). I was on the pill and I took it religiously so I really don't know what happened. But it has and we are getting our head around it. I'm very much pro-choice but I couldn't go through with an abortion.

The problem is now making use of our space. How do we make this work? The only thing I can think of is us moving downstairs on a decent sofa bed. I know baby needs to be with parents originally so I was thinking of a single bed and baby in the small double at first. We definitely can't fit baby in with us as we are. When I say small double, it's very small. The boys current rooms are just enough space for them and I would rather not interfere with their spaces.

It's such a sucky situation and not planned but I'm trying to make the most of what we have without crying all the time. I wouldn't feel so bad if I thought all of this was only for a few years but my care duties to my parents could easily be 20+ years. I feel like the biggest failure of a mum.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Could your parents get carers in instead and you work FT after maternity leave? I think you need to prioritise the family you have created now, and there are other options for your parents.

Can you not squeeze a cot in and have then in with you for a few years and fingers crossed the 15 year old goes to uni and the baby is a boy to share with the current 8 year old

No points indulging in feeling a failure. If you took the pill then it's just what can happen. Congratulations. Is there an option to swap homes with your parents?
