I work part time in two different places, 14yrs & 6yrs my longest employment is making me redundant very soon. A shift at my other job became available only 5hrs but I thought I’ll ask for the hours, same role as what I do. I have been covering this shift for the best part of 9 months as the two previous employees didn’t stay long, one was 4 weeks and one was about 9 weeks, and in all this time since January I have been in as support whilst they were in training. After asking for the hours to permanently become mine by email the reply I got via email was positive and stated recruitment had been spoken to and the hours were being added to my contract. (Head of service was included in this email). Then 2 weeks later the position was posted internally when I queried it I was told there had been a mistake and I was welcome to apply. I have applied and I have an interview very soon but I know others have applied too. AIBU to go to HR if I don’t secure the position as I feel it was very unfair to tell me the hours were mine then refute them with no explanation. I work in a very well known large organisation.
