As thread title asks.
DS just turning 11 is Y6, ADHD. Possible ASD but no diagnosis, didn’t meet the threshold. Medicated on school days, not a magic wand but does wonders for his hyperactivity.
Our biggest challenge at the moment is never doing anything when asked, and having to be asked and asked tens of times and it always ends in an argument.
And also picking on his sibling. Not just sibling rows, but younger DC will be minding their own business and DS will poke the bear just because he can, for the dopamine hit I guess. I come down like a ton of bricks on this, this “mean on purpose” behaviour is easily distinguished from your sibling bickering where everyone is as bad as each other. And it’s really damaging our relationship as he’s constantly getting in trouble for it, told he is bullying, losing his Tech. But things aren’t improving.
School wise, he’s a good boy. The medication helps, he’s academic, he’s got a small group of great friends. We are lucky in that sense, I know many NDs struggle with school refusal etc.
