I've created a conundrum. WWYD?

I've just vacuumed. I was in the kitchen and saw what looked like a bundle of hair on the floor - or a spider with very long legs.
So,💡 I crouched down and blew on it 🌬️ to determine which 🕵️ and it went shooting into the corner under the counter. I blew again and it bundled up. 😳

That's what prompted the big guns vacuum coming out. 🙄

Now, I'm in a bit of a pickle because I have a canister vacuum and have to figure out how to safely open it to empty. 🤔
I figured vacuuming after sucking up the hair/spider would sandwich it in between dust and dirt, effectively trapping it. 🤗

But, I am not looking forward to opening the canister trap door and potentially having an angry spider jump out. 🙈😫

I'm also wondering how intrepid the spider is 🦹 and if it will try to escape the vacuum. If, of course, it is a spider. 🤔

I should add, normally I use the "large cup or jar and sturdy paper method" to catch spiders and release them outside. I'm not a monster.

AIBU to throw the vacuum into the garbage and buy a new one?

Take it to the bottom of the garden - the canister not the whole vacuum 😂 - and leave it for a few days to make sure it has time to escape.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

It wasn't funny. I nearly fell over!

How dare you laugh at my traumatic experience.

Even my cats ran away useless hairy buggers.

Bring the whole thing to the bin outside and make sure your doors are closed. Empty the canister into the bin. (Maybe wear NASA grade gloves). If you don't see the spider in the bin give the whole unit, hose, brush head and canister a good shake in the garden. Power up the hoover to get the air flowing through it again and re-empty the canister into the bin.

After that, it's safe to bring indoors and continue life. However, the trauma of the spider/hair can't be erased from your memory, that's a permanent feature I'm sorry to say.

I'm Googling " SPTSD." 🤓😟

Yeah, I got caught out with one while I was having a pee...it was in the waste basket next to the loo.

I am lacking in courage.
And Good God, No! I haven't disassembled the vacuum. Are you nucking futs????

You have to take the bin thing off to empty it, right?

That's what I meant...

Although I have been known to strip down a Vax sans octopod

Wynter25 · Yesterday 21:20

Dont hoover him up.

Just ask him to pay more rent?!

Might leave you alone.

Do you have a garden? Do it into a corner. Your legs are longer than the biggest spiders- you will be able to leave faster than it can chase you.

Put all the moving parts of the vacuum cleaner back together (assuming you've tried to disassemble it) then vacuum every carpeted surface.

Go outside (make sure you put the light on) and empty it straight into the wheelie bin...then run.

Once you're back inside, put the vacuum together and have a stiff drink.

Godspeed.🤞🏻🍸

Waiting for someone to say get your husband or wife to do it. Or someone to say that's a man's job!

I've emptied the vacuum straight into the outside bin in these situations before

I'm just worried about the spider jumping out at me. 😬

Stick some plasters/bandages on your fingers and wait until your partner/mum/friend/postman pops in. Ask if they would be awfully kind and empty the vacuum for you as you just can't manage the catch with your injured hand.

I like your way of thinking! 🤗

Quite the conundrum so.

Nothing else for it.

leave the premises forthwith.

Police tape the perimeter.

Inform the authorities.

I'm hoping it won't come to that. 🤞
