AIBU for not visiting my distant father before Christmas?

My Dad is my only surviving parent. I remember him being kind to me when I was little but from when he re-married in my teenage years onwards he hasn't really been a very involved or supportive father.

I have twin boys and when they were born he told me that he doesnt like little boys and wishes I'd had girls. He forgets mine and their birthdays every year, doesnt really show an interest in how they're getting on in school etc. He didn't ask about their first day at school. He is nice to them when we visit but they get very frustrated having them in their home. We are only allowed in one room in the house so we usually end up going to a park instead to let the kids burn some energy. The boys do not enjoy going and it's just very hard work in general.

He has recently moved house to the other side of the country and is very keen on us visiting. The thought of going absolutely fills me with dread but the thought of not going fills me with guilt beyond belief. My husband and kids are not keen at all on going. One of the children gets very car sick and the whole journey would just be pretty stressful. We would need to pay for a hotel it's almost a 5hrs drive one way. AIBU if we don't go this side of Xmas?

There is nothing in what you say that would possibly make me say or even think that you should go OP. I'm not surprised that DH and the children aren't keen. YANBU
