AIBU to take time off sick?

Firstly, thanks for reading.

I currently work in quite a stressful job. I am a 'Head of' but the department consists of me, and me only (safeguarding). I also look after other aspects of the organisation - compliance, GDPR, HR and governance. There's been quite a few issues internally lately and I have been supporting the staff (we are a small team). I'm also the first point for complaints in the organisation.

Quite frankly - I'm drained. I'm also worrying about an elderly parent, my house move is quite frankly going tits up and I'm exhausted.

I've made work aware and there is nothing they can do to ease capacity.

I have been in bed for two days with what I thought may be covid (it isn't) but I'm in agony all over and run down.

AIBU to take a couple of weeks off sick if I see my doctor on Monday? I feel bad for letting them down but I'm shattered.

If you haven't already had time off no need to see the doctor until next week surely?
Absolutely take the time if you need it to recover from your current illness. But will you actually be able to rest?

I was off yesterday. I'm expected to work an event next weekend, for context these are 12-15 hour days. I honestly can't face it.

If you are sick (which you are) then take time off sick, it doesn’t matter that the origin of the illness is stress and not bacterial, you need to let yourself recover

You're in bed and in agony. You’re allowed time off for that.
