Looking after neighbours suitcase

Neighbour of ours, friendly known her for about 7 years is off on holiday next week.
We were talking about it over the wall yesterday and informed me she will be taking 3 cases and would it be ok if I keep the suitcases (packed) in my living room until the morning she gets picked up. I said yes of course and didn't ask why. My husband doesn't understand why we need to keep them here. I said don't be silly we are neighbours and it's the right thing to do. That's not unreasonable is it?

So she’s packed several days early expecting someone else to store her bags? Sounds very weird to me. Surely she can keep them in her car, or a corner of her own house. Or is she running away and doesn’t want her husband to know?? I hope you at least asked what time she’s being picked up and it’s not 5am!

You've known her 7 years, OP. Is this the first time she's ever been on holiday? Is she a bit new to the whole packing and taking your own suitcase thing?

WTF? Hell no. This have weird and wrong vibes all over. I can’t think of any sensible explanation for that request- unless
she’s actually packed
so she can run away from him?

I can think of some 'valid' reasons.

Surprise trip for hubby.
She has a big gathering planned, wants them out of the way without having to lug upstairs again.
Pets that she's worried will spray on them/claw them.
Having a workman in, not wanting to advertise they're about to leave the house vacant.

What's weird is asking without explaining and whats weirder is accepting with no explanation!

How is she going to manage three suitcases on her own? I'm assuming she has the normal number of hands ie two.

Think about it logically. Why on earth would she need you to look after her cases. Unless you’ve left out a massive bit of detail that she lives on the 10th floor, you on the ground with no lift so she couldn’t get them down the stairs quick enough.

This is a bizarre take. Anyone caught with drugs could say OP held their suitcase and could have put stuff in it, including the neighbour whether OP had the suitcases or not!

It’s weird. Like others I’d be thinking there’s something going on. At best she just doesn’t want suitcases cluttering up her house, but is happy to clutter up your house with them.

I imagine it’s more that she doesn’t want her living room cluttered up rather than drug smuggling… Obviously she doesn’t mind your living room being cluttered.
3 suitcases seems excessive for a lone traveller in her 70s.. will be difficult to manoeuvre them all. How long is she going for?

I shouldn't be shocked at mumsnet jumping to weird conclusions and having no idea about how drug dealing/investigations into drug dwlainf work but here we are...apparently this is definitely drug related.....
