Panic buying next week?

Just speculating but:

1. we will likely hit record diesel price next week - increased press can lead to increased panic buying fuel
2. end of month so people have been paid - more opportunity to stock up in general
3. it’s a general worsening trend anyway
4. there are proposals to reopen the Strait of Hormuz - if these break down again negative press and panic

But we have enough stockpiles and supply so we don’t need to be doing this, and it sounds like it is just a warning that it could be busier for you, like you would hear at Christmas or Black Friday (in some shops) etc.

But it’s future tense though, how would you not how are you going to.

we’ve eight bags of frozen fruit in the freezer so that’s ok, I know this as husband cleaned it today and was not happy , he does not like more than one of anything being in the freezer! We are doomed if anything happens albeit we survived Covid with his model so I’m hopeful. By the time we are due the weekly shop we have nothing.

I’m with you on this, I’ve heard it several times and am thinking I’ll get a Jerry can of diesel just in case and will top up on certain things just to be prepared, I’ve noticed already there’s certain things unavailable

That shit boiled my piss during COVID, my partner and I would be at work all day and be left with ransacked supermarket shelves by the time we could try and get any shopping! I remember feeling so desolate because there was absolutely no fresh meat in the supermarket bar one tub of minced turkey! And there was never any need for those that didn't have to go to work during the day to horde as greedily as they did. And now we'll get the idiots draining the fuel pumps dry again and driving around with lethal amounts of fuel in their car boots.

Anyone not stocking up a bit is mad. The world is very unstable and there is a significant risk of disruption. If we are being told to have at least 3 days of food and water then the likelihood is that we will need more than that. We are putting together a two week emergency supply. Together with the normal stuff in our kitchen that should see us though at least four weeks of food if necessary.

I think we will start to see prices rocketing and gaps on shelves. If nothing else the stuff we have stored will supplement what is available.

I've done my bit for panic buying today. B&Q had a good offer on 24 toilet rolls, so I bought some. Let the panic buying commence.

According to posts I’ve seen on instagram it also might affect their school bus transport, so some children might not be able to get to school

If you go onto the website for the airfield, they should say if there’s a planned exercise going on. The RAF Airfield near me, always posts on its website about any & all exercises. People are forever posting it on the local Facebook group to calm down those who see a jet and immediately panic-post about how they think WW3 has started! 😆🙄

Well lorry drivers in the USA are all striking on October 1st to protest against fuel prices which is going to MASSIVELY affect the usa’s grocery deliveries to supermarkets and so lots of Americans have been stockpiling as a result. So I expect that has been overheard by people here via social media

I live near an gov airfield and they’ve been practising for something. The jet sounds flying overhead are deafening.

It does sound concerning, on top of everything else.

We run a small business and have vans on the road. We are already noticing the extra costs for diesel over the last 6 months. When I read they could hit £3 a litre, we are getting very worried. It will destroy lots of small businesses- ours included.
