AIBU to be fed up with copy/paste AI responses?

I hate that we have no option to opt out of AI and that it’s forced on us constantly. It needs to be regulated.

I work for an advisory charity for the general public and things are becoming ridiculous. People write to me saying eg ‘I’ve asked ChatGPT to explain it because they are so much better than explaining it than me;” or “because I am too distressed to explain it to you” etc etc etc, or they apologise but still think it’s ok. I tell these people that if they can’t take the time to explain what they want, they will go to the back of the queue because AI is tedious, repetitive, verbose and generally not specific to the real person and their problems. I also tell them not to feed my follow up questions or answers into an AI search engine. Some people do try to hide their AI use but it is always obvious.

I wasn't going to do that, but I was thinking of writing out a parody AI post that was obviously not really AI but taking the piss. Haven't got the time or energy though. I'm sure it would have been very funny.

I really can't stand it when people use AI as the arbiter of a discussion. Why the fuck is ShatGPT or Gunk or whatever the X one is the final authority on anything at all? Thankfully, the number of posters who say they've put it into ShatGPT and it churned out what they wanted and therefore they're right seems to have fallen.

I especially hate it because the truth is I am not that good at spotting AI text, probably because I fucking hate it and avoid it as much as possible. Sometimes it's really obvious but I think to get really good at recognising it you need to spend a lot of time with it and I'd rather be concussed by my laptop.

I actually find it hilarious when they copy and paste it and forget to delete their own instructions at the beginning, or ai’s summary at the end (eg is this ok or would you like it more conversational) etc. It really does make them look like an utter tit though

Does anyone know how you get AI responses as being the default on an Internet search?

If it does it will highlight someone who can't read the room and thinks they are hilarious, we will know they are not.

I can't see any downside to AI copy and pastes being banned. If anyone thinks another poster is unaware of AI they can simply suggest that they ask it themselves

Yeah I hate this. It's alarming how quickly people are willing to outsource their thinking skills.

It makes me think the poster is thick, no one wants to read slop, and it's usually splattered with emojis as well.

I got an ai reply from a company I was going to do free work for, and they shot themselves in the foot. It's rude, and if they won't put the two seconds of effort into a normal reply, they aren't getting my work.

The first person to copy and paste an AI answer to this as a joke should be banned from MN.

I think what's even worse is when people don't say it's AI. It's usually obvious because of the length and style but still really annoying.
