AIBU students don’t have bags?

I usually end up using the bags for other things and then buying more.
They always go to good use through.

On a side note I had no idea it had been that long since they started charging for bags. Time just goes. 😳

Bags are too cheap to make it make a difference to anyone’s budget.

Get a grip babe.

They're baby adults just making their way in the world and maybe they forgot their bag for life or their tote bag. Maybe they'll buy a bunch of bags now to start off their own bag of bags to use for their future shopping trips.

Why do you care about their budgets? They need to learn this for themselves.

Also, when I've just moved or started in a new place, often I'll still have various bits that I've transported in my bags for life so maybe I do need another bag in the shop.

Or (and shock horror at this one!) I sometimes pop into a shop completely unplanned and don't have my bags in the car so I buy another bag for life for the collection.

I do, and still manage to get to the check out without them 😂 sometimes I’ll re pack the trolley and wheel it to the cars. Other times I bite the bullet and just buy more.

I’m in my 40s, have a wonderful selection of cotton shopping bags, reusable plastic, the large reusable shopping bags both at home and in car but yet still find myself bag less at the check out! I have so many things to remember that this is often not even on the radar.

what do you expect ?

It's Freshers week so it's the first time they'll have been shopping. I work in a major store and the younguns are generally the most organised when it comes to reusing bags and general reusing and sustainability.

I know this wasn't aimed at me but I had to laugh. What car? I don't drive, alot of people don't. No it's not normal to keep bags in the invisible car. One time I was putting my trolley back and lifting my several bags of shopping out. I was obviously taking to long because a man behind me waiting to put his trolley back said perhaps I should I loaded them into my cat first. His face was a picture when I told him I don't drive and I was walking home, shopping and all 😂

I'm 48. A capable adult and mother. I have a whole collection of tote bags. At home. Yesterday I still bought aldi bags.

They’re 18/19, they won’t give a shit about paying an extra 30p for a plastic bag.

Why do you not keep bags in the car like a normal person?!

I buy a bag every time I go to the supermarket unless I've only bought an armful of items that can be juggled precariously on the way to the car. It will ever be this way. If I don't have to buy a bag and I don't drop something on the way back to the car I feel like I'm seriously winning at life!

Bags are kept in the cupboard under the stairs and when I can't find the vacuum cleaner for the avalanche of carrier bags, they go to the food bank.

I’d be super impressed if they did! Considering I haven’t got the hang of it yet in my advanced years.

It's Freshers week, they will be doing their first shop after me moving into halls. Most won't have bags yet. It's a very difficult time for 1st years, give them a break. It's hardly the crime of the century 🙄

Any sensible student will get themselves a pull along shopping trolley 😁

You may have forgotten the stuff in the glass

DD will have been one of those students this week. I know because she said at one point "Oh, I'll need to buy some shopping bags once I'm up there"

Students have enough crap to fit in the car on the way up, this is something they can buy once they get there.

You say they are buying the bags, therefore why do they have to realise buying them has been in place for 11 years?

When I was that age, well probably until I was in middle age, bags were free so we didn't have to remember. I now have a collection of sturdy bags and rarely forget, but I am in my 60s and have regular shopping habits.

When you are packing your DC off to Uni for the first time I doubt very much that a supply of shopping bags is on many people's list of essentials. They are bright kids, they will be on top of it in a week or two

I sent mine with a bag for life and a cool bag for chilled stuff. There is no guarantee he will remember to take them to the shops. Even though he has seen us use reusable bags for his whole life.

I don't remember specifically giving my kids shopping bags but I'm pretty sure some of their stuff will have been packed in jute bags from supermarkets and bags for life. They will remember they're there at some point.

 Is it of any signicence to your OP, <span class="mention">@Hdlll</span>, that you went there for click and collect, then went to look for spirits, then bought some? I don't understand the relevance.

At 18 it was a miracle if I remembered to take my keys out with me! Even though I'd been doing it since 11 for secondary school it was like my brain had a reset once I went to uni and it took me a few months to gather myself again. I'm sure the students will be fine!
