I have been bleeding from my vagina for 17 days. I am feeling dreadful - exhausted, stomach and lower back pain, headaches etc. I went to the GP after I had been bleeding for 12 days and she ordered lots of blood tests. I’m 43 so she thought perhaps peri/menopause. She examined my cervix but all looked well. I had a call today with another go to discuss blood results. All fine. Nothing to suggest anaemia or peri/menopause. He said it could just be one of those things. I said I couldn’t continue bleeding like this. I told him I have an increased risk of breast cancer and as a result am screened yearly. He didn’t comment, but I explained I was concerned about the hormone link to breast cancer and genealogical cancers. Again he didn’t comment. He said he would prescribe tranxemic acid which would stop the bleeding entirely. I then asked what the next step would be. He seemed confused. I said terms if diagnosing rh cause of the bleeding. He said just wait to see if it stopped and if so if it happened again. I said I didn’t feel this was enough and he asked what I would kike to happen. I said an investigation into why I was currently on day 17 of bleeding which does not look like stopping, why I am bloated and in pain all the time with a heaviness in my stomach. He eventually said he could refer me for a pelvic ultrasound, but has since come back to say there’s not enough evidence of me needing a scan, and even if the bleeding continues it still won’t be enough evidence.
I just feel this is not good enough. I will take the tranxemic acid but I would like to find out the cause of the bleeding. AIBU??
