I too thought Nigella must have had a stroke, she seemed to have fine motor skills issues, and the way she talked was bloody awful.

Speaking of which... Molly's voice is grating as hell, in fact she reminded me of Moaning Myrtle in Harry Potter 😅 . Danni, Clara and Shannon's voices weren't a great deal better either.

As an ND person myself, yes Danni is on the spectrum and I think Mo is too.

C4 have made sure all the DEI boxes have been ticked but have forgotten about the baking part of the show. Unless something amazing happens, this series is going to be as dull as hell.

Speaking of which 😅 we watched Second Helpings today, the replacement for Extra Slice, and it was some of the most boring drivel I've ever heard. There's absolutely no chemistry between anyone whatsoever, just a constant tedious "meh" interspersed with vaguely awkward moments. Urgh...

I was tearing up seeing at Pru, at the cake dropping and just how supportive the contestants are of each other and just how lovely it is to have bake off on, I'm overly sensitive though

So glad others noticed how Nigella was eating! 🤣 It was like she was mechanical! Said to my partner that I think she's been cloned and it's her first day of trying to act human!
I was gutted when I found out Nigella was joining, thinking she'd be overly sensual... Sensualising(?!) each bite but I think she may grow on me, so far. Probably because, as pp described perfectly, 'Kind of like she was eating in secret in the kitchen in the middle of the night.' 🤣🤣 like a little mouse keeping lookout while it gobbles each bite.

Drag Queen dude can leave next episode afaic 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I agree with EasterPangolin, we said that as we were watching it too. (We'll still watch it though as I've waited all year for it!)

it's bullshit. Throughout time immemorial there are people who love attention. They will gravitate to whatever trend du jour will give them it. A throuple isn't something any significant amount of people are doing. It doesn't need 'representation'. This latest cohort are the least representative of the population. Like all reality shows, once people cotton on it's a spirigboard for fame, all the usuals come out.

You get that they do come in other configurations, right? Like the guy in GBBO is in an all-male throuple? All-female ones also possible, likewise one woman, two men? And if a guy is in a throuple, regardless of the sex of the others, he doesn’t have any more status than anyone else in it.

I love Nigella she is very intelligent, and she knows so much about food- I just hope she still gets to be herself as a presenter on the show.
I watched it specially to see her on it- don’t normally watch it at all so that’s one extra viewer they have now thanks to her.

I was gutted too for the woman who used the wheelchair. Gutted again how everyone let her say she was going to be positive after this shit thing happened. As if it was just random chance.

Actually, I would have had a massive word with channel 4 and the production company over this, had this been me in her situation.

If an oven door tips down past the horizontal such that burning hot food can just slide out- which she had commented on- and if you are a wheelchair user and can’t quickly move your legs out of the way, then that’s bloody dangerous. So I hope she sues them so that people running shows will think more carefully about putting in equal safety needs for disabled people.

I don’t care too much if someone wants to be in a throuple although it’s not for me and I don’t understand it. I think it’s odd when two of the people are married and there is then a third “partner” and I find it far less uncomfortable than people being in couples but have multiple other casual partners who aren’t anything to do with their spouse on the side, that’s weird to me.

Annoys me that every series lately someone who isn’t doing very well becomes “ill” and ends up going through to another week because they don’t send anyone home! A couple of them were absolute crap.

Yes, but even if you take multiple small forkfuls, they all add up! And Nigella is brand new as a judge. Even if she got advice from Paul Hollywood, or indeed Mary Berry or Prue Leith, about how to pace herself when tasting, it’s a very different experience to hosting your own cookery show. She’s a beginner judge.

Poor Molly - I did feel for her. But it was all fine in the end. Danni, bless her, is a tad annoying. From one ND person to another she is definitely autistic. Her cakes also looked like they tasted foul and the judges were just being polite as it was the first week.
