To ask for help with pain relief for fibroids/endo - I can’t cope anymore

Yes Diclofenic supposorities. They really helped my pain. Ask your GP tomorrow. Hope you get some relief x

Are you on hrt? My fibroid pain got much worse with it, I've had to come off.

The coil is progesterone isn't it? Any chance gp will prescribe progesterone?

I find the soluble co-codamol much more effective than the tablets. I sldo got stronger ones prescribed when I had an accident and kept them to use for period pain.

Im so sorry you're struggling, it's awful and I find it hard to believe there's no decent relief.

Maybe ask to try Oxynorm on a slow release or you can now get medical cannabis with thc. I take this as a gummy. Releaf is the company that prescribed mine.

Can you not go on the pill whilst you are waiting to stop your periods?

agreed . Ask for some codeine/tramadol too . You don’t have to be in this much pain

I have a family member with endometriosis and she's been prescribed tramadol for the pain. Doesn't agree with everyone but it's very effective pain relief.

When I was about 23 I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I am now 60 . The locum GP I saw who also happened to be head of gynaecology at the local hospital and was helping out the practice put me on Depovera injection ( like a continuous contraceptive pill) Basically to stop the shrewd of womb settling in other places in my abdomen and swelling each month as if they were still attached. The idea of the drop was to get them to shrink and shrivel. It worked.

At the time I was not even thinking about a baby and when I did 5-6 years later, pregnancy took a while after I came off the depo but it happened.
Later, family finished I went back on the depo because I was beginning to get symptoms again.

a few years later I was taken off the depo and put on the hormonal coil . That continued to work till after menopause.

The result is I have not actually had that many periods I my life. Since I was 23 only around the time I wanted to get pregnant.

After the menopause I did have a hysterectomy mainly due to a large fibroid.

I see so many posts on here about undo and often wonder why the treatment I was offered and used for so many years isn’t offered today . What am I missing?

Edut for a few years ( maybe 7-8 ?) I was on a hormonal implant which was injected into my arm . Forgot that I’ve but all basically did the same thing .

I have adenomyosis and fibroids and am in a similar boat right now. I started getting cramps yesterday, and I woke up around 3am in agony and couldn't get back to sleep. The painkillers I have don't really touch it anymore. I'm a bit limited as to what I can take as my son is severely disabled so I can't have anything that would make me unable to care for him.
Out of desperation I tried a heat pad and had a bath, but it was futile really.
The flooding started this morning so I get to enjoy that as well. I feel so wiped out.

At this stage the only thing that will help is a hysterectomy. I had the opportunity to have one a couple of years ago last minute, but due to caring for my son and not being able to get a care package in place, I couldn't take it. I need to lose weight so I can have keyhole surgery to reduce recovery time.

I've been through all the contraceptives available and none of them help anymore. I've tried mefanemic acid and tranexamic acid, but they don't do anything anymore. I've had the mirena coil 3 times, but my body seems to reject it and it falls out after a couple of months.

I look about 6 months pregnant where my uterus is so enormous, and it's squashing my bowels so I need to poo all the time. And I feel sick.

It's fucking miserable OP and I strongly suggest you get a gynae appointment to look for endometriosis/adenomyosis (the latter would be my guess based on what you've said). Hope you find some relief.

I had fibroids discovered last year (3) and was told they are very common in 40's (as if that somehow means we just leave them to continue causing back pain and bloating agony). I have never been given the option to have any surgery and look like I am pregnant (literally by someone manning a water flume as they thought I was pg and not allowed on!).

I have recently been on amitriptyline to try to rid myself of migraines that immobilise me for days of every month, which did help my aching fingers (suspect beginnings of RA) but was told is also good for endo pains. It might be worth asking to try it? I would say I am sensitive to adrenaline (dd is autistic so I guess we are both ND, which makes this quite common) and it made me very twitchy and frantic as well as constantly mildly angry...so I switched back a couple of weeks ago. One of the first things I noticed was twinging again where I assume some of the fibroids are. It didn't stop the bloating but worked on the fibro pain.

stage 4 endo, with bilateral endometriomas, extensive fibrosis, pelvic and bowel adhesions plus hydrosalpinx. i used diihydrocodeine after a hospital stay, but the only thing that really worked was going into chemical menopause with 3 monthly injections. I’m awaiting a hysterectomy but the waiting list is years long but until then i’m on this and never coming off it.

What did the GP offer you instead?

Diclofenac is stronger than naproxen. They are different, but broadly speaking, diclofenac is more potent.

i hope you got some rest last night! Honestly, you're 44 and this is a recurring issue. Even without the pain you've had excessive flooding and your fibroids grew back. I would seriously raise the hysterectomy question before your next surgery or in a couple of years time you could be back in this position and at the bottom of a waiting list again.

if it is unbearable, go to a&e and explain you aren’t coping with the pain
