My child is 4 and just started school. Today he had an accident and cut his head. The school called me and I arrived to find the most patient TA holding my child’s head carefully applying pressure but talking to him about his interests and things he’d been playing with. He’s only been at school for 3 weeks but the TA clearly knew him, recognised immediately that he wasn’t himself with the injury and found ways to keep him alert and chatting until I arrived. The TA also had the presence of mind to collect everything used to stem the bleeding so that the hospital could assess the volume of blood lost.
I’m just wondering whether a gift to the TA would be appropriate in these circumstances or if they were just doing their job and it would look odd!
