To absolutely hate this government, and what they are doing to our country? PART 2

CoventryCity · 22/09/2026 10:14

A continuation of Thread 1.

Strong words but is is how I feel at this point in time. All of them make me feel physically sick. Why? Well many reasons.. Here are just two.

Eg. They won't release sex crime statistics of immigrants / asylum seekers. Why? Other European countries have done, and it is not pretty. Our gvt gives out a leaflet asking them not to rape the locals. Why? Our gvt has said they won't house asylum seekers next to schools and nurseries, why?

Eg. UK now spends more on benefits than it earns in income tax. Labour have increased this - not reduced it. Astonishing. As they say - "Who can we tax in order to pay benefits to others?" That's Labour's Welfare Secretary. He's describing the priorities of Labour MPs.

In the last financial year, the UK government brought in £331 billion in income tax — and spent even more, £333 billion, on welfare, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility's latest economic and fiscal outlook (obr.uk/efo/economic-and-fiscal-outlook-march-2026/#chapter-6).

She's claiming not to have a clue what the question I asked her was - that she chose to ignore despite being active on the thread at the time.

Sooty - I am sorry you feel rejected. It happens. You have my undivided attention. What was the question?

Not got a clue about what ?

UK immigration ? Actually I do. DP and DD are not British passport holders. So I do know a bit about UK immigration rules.

CoventryCity I don't really want a load of undocumented men coming here either (though happy with immigrants through the proper routes and work with a couple of excellent ones)

However

Parties like Reform are implying that asylum seekers on small boats are responsible for about 50% of the UK's problems and that Reform will get into power and easily solve it

Whereas in reality: Small boats are more likely responsible for about 0.5% of the UK's problems and neither the Tories nor Labour found it easy to solve and neither will Reform

I agree that Reform are not good. Hopefully they will disappear as soon as they arrived.

But undocumented unknown males from misogynistic countries, and mass immigration, is a big problem.

For eg. how many rapes by asylum seekers / immigrants from these countries is enough to do something about it? There were 3 on Brighton beach in 2 weeks. And a gang rape there before that. There is a lot data on this from other countries of course, as Labour are blocking release of UK data.

Oh dear, dear Soots, are you feeling left out? I don't know what you're talking about. Do tell.

You didn't answer the question I asked, which was a simple factual one. I'll draw my own conclusions.

They imprison babies and small children in these detention centres in overcrowded cells, with mouldy food and a lack of basic supplies such as nappies. Unlike you, I certainly don't want such cruel and inhumane policies and practices in the UK.

Hopefully there are enough decent people in the UK so that there won't be a genuine will to do the same.

Yeah I don't think detention centres are the answer either. We need to stop mass immigration. Australia managed it. Denmark? I am sure we can, if there was a will. But there is not. And UK women and girls don't matter any more than a leaflet.

We did indeed have high asylum claims before Brexit. But the asylum claims increased as a result of Brexit.

Also, there we had the highest rate of rejection in the EU, and there were more things we could have done should we have chosen to, but we didn't.

The DA isn’t a factor. Any EU country that is hardline uses domestic policies.

Can you cite any EU country that has used the DA to even get close to dealing with migration / asylum issues?

If you can I’ll have a look.

The USA has immigration detention centres. We can do some as well. If there's a genuine will we can do the same.

No because we had high asylum claims pre Brexit just via lorries. And no other countries use the DA to return people en masse, unless you can think of one.

The EU countries that are hardline are using domestic policies not the DA.

No. Mass immigration has happened all over Europe, is actually changing the face of Europe. As @EasternStandard said and as I said earlier. Correlation is not causation, you should understand that by now.

True, but when certain actions exacerbated the problem in the UK, that is definitely causation.

And the lorries were fixed by using Co2 probes.

Small boats can be fixed as well. Just takes time to do the deals to shut down the factories making them, and the people selling them. And that is what is happening. It was happening under the Tories, and is being continued under labour.

All while Farage and palls are in the news yelling "OPEN BORDERS".

Brexit is definitely a factor for irregular immigration as the statistics show. Numbers increased when the French stopped doing anything their side. Also, Boris (I think it was Boris, so many of them have introduced stupid things, it is hard to recall which particular idiot introduced which stupid thing) decided it would be a good thing to change the law so that you have to be on UK soil before you can apply for asylum. That one isn't Brexit related, but it is government stupidity.

I think the difficulty is that everyone seems to lump together asylum seekers / irregular migrants / illegal migrants and yet they are all tracked and handled differently, and with greater or lesser levels of success.

Pre Brexit we had an amount of immigration. Post Brexit that amount increased. As a direct result of Brexit. That's why people mention it as a factor. Because it is. Is it the only factor? No. Is it a significant factor? Yes.

The number of asylum seekers has gone up. Is going up each year. Labour have stopped student fraud so those numbers reduce immigration stats yes. That is in the data I provided links too. I also said it in a comment. No shocker there.

But it hasn't gone up. Even the source you quoted in the previous thread says asylum applications have reduced. Per my post above.

HappiestSleeping · 22/09/2026 16:22

Exactly. Why people keep going on about Brexit impact on immigration is peculiar. Most of Western Europe has a mass immigration problem.

For example (there is much more - Italy, Greece, Germany, Spain, UK - if we could see the UK data that is)

Sweden https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/01/18/nearly-two-thirds-convicted-rapists-sweden-migrants/

Norway https://norwaynews.com/norways-asylum-seeker-rape-epidemic-continues-to-spread/

Nearly two thirds of convicted rapists in Sweden are migrants or second generation immigrants

Researchers at Lund University found that 63 per cent of convictions for rape or attempted rape were handed down to people born abroad, or whose parents were born abroad.
