To absolutely hate this government, and what they are doing to our country? PART 2

A continuation of Thread 1.

Strong words but is is how I feel at this point in time. All of them make me feel physically sick. Why? Well many reasons.. Here are just two.

Eg. They won't release sex crime statistics of immigrants / asylum seekers. Why? Other European countries have done, and it is not pretty. Our gvt gives out a leaflet asking them not to rape the locals. Why? Our gvt has said they won't house asylum seekers next to schools and nurseries, why?

Eg. UK now spends more on benefits than it earns in income tax. Labour have increased this - not reduced it. Astonishing. As they say - "Who can we tax in order to pay benefits to others?" That's Labour's Welfare Secretary. He's describing the priorities of Labour MPs.

In the last financial year, the UK government brought in £331 billion in income tax — and spent even more, £333 billion, on welfare, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility's latest economic and fiscal outlook (obr.uk/efo/economic-and-fiscal-outlook-march-2026/#chapter-6).

Yup, Jim grew up in a council house (funded by the state), he recieved an education (funded by the state), he went to university (funded by the state), he made use or workers and infrastructure (funded by the state), he then fucked off to bitch and moans about the country that enabled his success while attempting to deny those same opportunities to everyone else.

And that's great you're not struggling, I'm sure the 100s of thousands who are will sleep well tonight knowing you run two cars.

I'm genuinely interested in why you're such a lickspittle for people you'll never get close too though? Like you'll always be infinitely closer to being homeless than you'll be Jim Ratcliffe, yet you fight his fight while selling your compatriots out. Why?

Of course he left. As I said don't bite the hand that feeds you. I'd reduce my tax bill if I could. Monaco seems nice enough as well. We're hoping to move as well (but to the ME).

I prefer wealth creators like Jim who strike, work hard and make a success

Ain't no way we're becoming homeless if we have our own home and property investments as well.

I honestly can't remember but I don't think I posted on any of the Mumsnet threads on Charlie Kirk . I did challenge celebratory posts on Facebook at the time.

I'd just like to add that I was appalled by the murder of Jo Cox and equally appalled by the murder of David Amess. I don't think any politician deserves to die while doing their job. I disliked just about everything Ann Widdecome stood for but no one deserves to be murdered in their own home.

There is some common ground to be found then. I don't think its funny or just when something bad happens to someone of a left wing persuasion either.

ilovesooty · 23/09/2026 00:38

Somerford · 22/09/2026 23:51

Then I'd ask you the same question as I asked a different poster earlier in the thread, and again I'm not being snarky. Did you challenge any of it at the time?

The response i got earlier was "I didn't see anything like that". I struggle to believe that, there were threads on MN immediately after Charlie Kirk's murder littered with deletions and full of ghoulish, joyous celebrations.

If you didn't challenge it and you didn't police your own side I get it, I don't do it either unless its especially egregious. But I don't expect anyone to insist that I do if they can't agree to it themselves or they just pretend not to have seen anything on their side that really needed to be called out.

No reply needed, it makes perfect sense.

By saying the crimes of assault were only reported and no convictions made you are implying that those (usually female) victims are lying.

Doesn't really match the protecting women ethos in my book, particularly when you factor in how hard it is for domestic assault survivors to make a report, how long they have to wait for a court hearing, and how low the conviction rates are.

So much for #metoo

Now who is "inventing shit"? Read my post again, read the actual words that were written in plain english. I didn't say that crimes were only reported and not convicted, that wasn't the point of my post at all. The rest of your gibberish is disregarded for obvious reasons.

So who are the cowardly thugs who call themselves anti fascists, while attacking women and going armed to meetings with a variety of weapons?

They have a logo which their members proudly sport, typically on their face coverings. Their members tend to make their membership a huge part of their identity, they have recognisable clothing, slogans and chants. But yeah, they don't exist.

You can agree or disagree on what you want. I would prefer if if you don't quote me anymore - just a "suggestion".

Then respectively I would request the same from you. Goodnight.

You post makes very little sense as a response to mine to be honest with you. Did you quote the right person?

I mean Jim earned all his wealth. He grew up in poverty, just studied hard, worked hard and turned round a chemicals company to make it super profitable. I understand why he's left the UK. Who wouldn't?

We don't worry about our car or the heating. We have 2 cars.

I understand why firms invest in AI. It's the future. Sometimes if you're not cutting it you'll get let go.

What are you on about the taxpayers?.they are the taxpayer and pay a lot of it.

Hate to break it to you but most dividends paid to "shareholders" are actually paid into our pension funds, as pension funds are often significant shareholders in all kinds of companies. Our pension funds would collapse if firms stopped marking profits and stopped paying dividends.

Hate to break it to you, but pension funds aren't the majority of shareholders. According to the ONS, UK pension funds own just c.1.6% of UK quoted shares.

But even if they were the majority, there comes a point where we need to stop fucking over the current working generation in favour of protecting the wealth and investments of the richest generation to ever exist.

I'd regard myself as being on the left and I don't think celebration of these events is right.

FridayNightBlues · 22/09/2026 23:41

As someone who is a non white immigrant to this country I have to say that more than anything else it is the ignorance displayed on this thread that is infuriating. I mean if you want to hate me at least hate me for proper stuff and not imaginary unicorns. I'm fine with being hated for the colour of my skin. At least I actually am brown. But don't hate me for all the benefit money that I am absolutely not eligible for and have never received. That is just annoying.

(I assume it is the same for people who are unfortunate enough to have to depend on our of work or disability benefits. I am pretty sure they would love to get 50% of everyone's income but that just isn't the case. Also, with your logic it would be these random benefit seekers who are actually paying for ALL your public services so you should probably be more grateful).

I’m not responsible for content on platforms I don’t use. Perhaps it would be a good idea for you not to tar everyone who differs from you politically with the same brush.

I don't think I held you, personally, responsible. I think I was actually trying to reach some common ground and show you our perspective on things and why we aren't typically interested in the usual "CONDEMN THIS THING OR YOU'RE A HYPOCRITE" shtick. But whatever.

As I said in a subsequent post, it isn't enough to not defend such things if you'd like a return to any sense of civility and a reduction in the levels of polarisation that we see today. Both sides would have to agree on better standards and then actively enforce them.

I'll give you a small sample of the reaction to Charlie Kirk's murder:

https://youtube.com/shorts/aA7bgLmcUkM?is=lh4ejoK1nF7Ryy4v

There were similar videos and comments when Anne Widdicombe was murdered and we see the same gleeful, joyous reaction every time something happens to a prominent conservative in the UK.

When we find ourselves confronted by leftists insisting that we should condemn this or that, whatever comments made by an individual or whatever the current thing happens to be, I don't think you can blame us for thinking "go fuck yourself". Thats where we're at now.

I refer you to my previous post.

Somerford · 22/09/2026 22:31

I agree with this in all fairness. It was wrong and it shouldn't have happened, she should have been removed by security in the proper manner and nobody in the audience should have assaulted her.

Perhaps its time to agree that right wing figures shouldn't have milkshakes thrown in their faces in the street and that the murders of Charlie Kirk and Anne Widdicombe were reprehensible and worthy of total condemnation also. I find myself looking at the reactions to such events from "the left" writ large and thinking "why the fuck should I take a single backwards step about any wrong doing on our side? We don't get that courtesy from you, you celebrate when our people get assaulted and murdered and you tell us that they deserved it with a snarl and bared teeth". I still feel that way actually as I'm typing this and thinking back to the most notable incidents in recent years. Its may be that we're past the point of civility and decency toward one another.

I'd regard myself as being on the left and I don't think celebration of these events is right.

Somerford · 22/09/2026 23:03

Ok. The comments, and indeed videos on various social media platforms, were worse than that by many orders of magnitude. As they are every time a conservative is assaulted or killed. We don't rush to condemnation over things like the assualt at the Reform Party conference because we know its a matter of time before we have to put up with joyous celebrations when something appalling happens to a prominent conservative. Decency and civility has to cut both ways or not at all, we're firmly in not at all mode currently. Both sides will have to agree on better standards for that to change, and that will involve some policing of those on our own respective sides. I don't see it happening.
