Reflux screaming help!!!

It’s heartbreaking seeing them so upset isn’t it. My third baby was so refluxy and on various meds, under paediatrics and losing weight because of all the vomiting with it.
I saw a lactation consultant privately who helped us a lot with breastfeeding positioning and attachment which improved things. So if you are breastfeeding then I would recommend seeing a lactation consultant (ibclc)
if the medications are not helping at all I would ask for referral to a paediatrician if you haven’t already.
other things that helped us were babywearing all day, he was more comfortable upright. Tiger in the tree hold every evening !

It probably took 6 months for our DD, but it improved.

Two things that helped were a baby sling carrier, which was less painful for DD, and she slept when upright, so my DH used to put her in the sling when possible.

He also made a piece of wood that would incline the mattress, so the baby's head was higher, so the reflux did rise up so much when led down.

We stopped the meds. Went to natural methods, upright, bed tilt, pace feed, dummy. That made a big difference.

All of mine had severe reflux; the last 2 had the full range of meds. Kept them as upright as possible etc but their vomiting was so projectile that it came up despite all the positioning etc.
Honestly, the meds helped by reducing the pain but they were all 6 months before the screaming stopped. Once they can sit up, it does get better.

My DD was 3 month on the dot. Like a switch went off overnight and she got better. It was hell at the time. Her DD( my GD) was exactly the same but none of my other GDC suffered from it. You have my sympathies. Hoping it gets better soon .

Our boys reflux was so bad he was admitted to hospital with a BRUE event and the paeds tilted the bed.

So it’s not safe guidelines no. Health visitor had a fit when she came round. But the paeds did it and advised it for us so we followed what they did.

Have you got a paeds referral or just GP?
