A secondhand book being given for a free are a bit ridiculous obviously if you are buying it’s totally different and one of the other comments was yes but only if it’s in good condition

I seem to cause holes in top legs of my jeans whilst cycling. I had 6 pairs otherwise fine that could have been used for recycling, sewing or crafting bags etc.

I wrote clearly in the posting they were freyed/with holes and I wanted nothing for them just to be re-used for crafting and someone asked me to measure inside leg of every pair of jeans

Try charging a token amount - £1 a book, say or if you have loads you could do 10 for £5.

You can let the buyer have them for free if they behave in a reasonable way when they turn up to collect them.

Or see if a local charity shop wants them - it does vary, some are always happy to take books, others aren't.

You could also check if there's a charity book table at your local supermarket - lots of Tescos have them. With ours you just leave the books on the table or under it in a bag if the table is full. Easy to drop a few off when doing a shop.

Most people seem to think it's better to charge a token amount for items, which you can then waive if the buyer turns up to collect. A token charge weeds out a lot of the time-wasters.

I see this quite often on Facebook pages. Plus the people wanting gifter to take measurements of items when photos have been uploaded.
