Do you pay your TV license poll

Just interested based on a conversation with a friend recently.

IABU - I pay
IANBU - I don’t pay

if you don’t pay, have you had letters/consequences?

I do as I use the service. However, I do think they need to move to a different model eg monthly subscription or advertising.

We genuinely don't use it so we don't pay. We sometimes get letters through the door but they are more generic warnings.

I pay and I'm happy to do so. If nothing else, British media is an excellent soft power export that enhances the UK's prestige abroad - needed more than ever now thanks to Brexit

Plus I do watch and listen to BBC programming.

Earlier in the year there was a phone-in on Good Morning Britain, (Ed Balls and Susannah Reid were presenting it,) about the BBC and if you pay for the TV licence and if you watch BBC... One man said 'no I don't pay and I don't watch it!' Ed Balls said 'oh I guess you won't be watching England in the semi final of the FIFA World Cup then?!' Wink

I wonder how many 'I don't have a licence coz I don't watch the BBC!' people watched the World Cup football matches on the BBC?!

And I think the BBC is important.

I pay, I barely watch TV at all and have no streaming services but the option is there if I have paid should I want to.

If you dont watch iplayer either then that's not a problem but you only mention live TV.

No I do not watch Iplayer, mainly series from Netflix, It’s not often I watch tv.

We didn’t for years, mostly because we barely watch live TV anyway but then they changed it so you needed one for iplayer and we buckled. I’d rather it be a subscription service like Netflix.

No I don't have a license.
Yes I have had probably at least 100 letters. They seem to be on a loop where they become more and more threatening and then it goes back to the nicer ones, they provide much amusement in my house. Apparently they're coming on the 28th of September, I've had several dates where they are apparently coming round, they never do. If they do I'll give them a little wave though the window whilst watching Netflix 😂

I pay. I think the BBC is great (I'm never not listening to either radio 2 or radio 4 and I watch a few BBC programmes on iPlayer), so no issues from me.

I pay...but if you are listening to bbc stations on the radio in your car its unnecessary to have a TV licence.

I hardly ever watch the actual TV....went for about 2 years + not watching it then had visitors who watched the news and a few series while staying with me.

I have Netflix and a few other subscriptions as well as youtube and that's it. So I'm now wondering do I even need to pay for it.
