No, I don't pay for a TV Licence because I don't watch live TV, and even if I did I still wouldn't pay the Licence because I completely object to the model and Capita's operating practices.

The BBC needs to start living in the real world and operate on a subscription basis. If it's really as special and brilliant as its defenders make out, then it should have no problems whatsoever raking in subs and continuing to be so.

Quite a few letters over the years and visits with trying to peek through my window at my TV when Ive just said i dont need one and shut the door in their face.

I genuinely don't watch BBC at all. No Traitors, no Master Chef, no Gavin and Stacey, no Strictly Come Dancing, no football - none of it. I deliberately boycott the BBC as I think their long running support of sex offenders and paedophiles is absolutely appalling. However, I still pay for a TV licence as I watch Sky News live. I hate that the money goes to the BBC, and I sincerely hope that funding model changes soon.

And apparently also the types who like to pop on a balaclava on the weekend and threaten RNLI volunteers. Truly the sort of people you want as neighbours.

There is another thread about speeding where someone said how they drive at 35 in 20mph limits. I was tempted to post (but didn't) asking what other laws they choose to ignore because they don't like them. Seems I've found a few of them on here. Shoplifters, speeders, TV licence evaders. What a country.

This is today’s evening schedule on just BBC1 and 2 from 7-10.
One Show, Eastenders, documentary on grooming gangs, documentary on health fact vs social media myths, new drama Split Up, Global Eye, Mastermind, University Challenge, Only Connect, Finding Britain’s Slave Traders.

Which of those are slop? You may not like One Show, but magazine programmes are popular. Similarly Eastenders if you don’t like soaps.

But there are two brand-new documentaries on BBC1 and a brand-new drama. On BBC2, Global Eye is an important documentary series on world issues, also new. These surely can’t be slop. The Britain’s Slave Traders may be a repeat - I don’t know if it is - but surely interesting and not slop if you haven’t seen it. There are three quiz programmes but they’re pretty high end, if you don’t count Mastermind, and make up Quiz Monday. All of that in three hours. And I’ve not even looked at BBC4 or CBeebies and CBBC.

I can only assume these aren’t high-brow enough for you. But I think the BBC has done a decent job of getting a mix of “inform, educate and entertain” in today’s offerings.

So being a thief doesn't bother you then?

Incredible CBeebies, educational and no ads. Just great

It’s the microbit they developed. Affordable coding for all children.

It’s the acorn electron they developed. Affordable introduction of computing for children of the 80’s in every school.

It’s doctor who, small prophets and other entertainment shows.
It’s all the free recipes on the bbc website.
It’s regional tv, jobs and creativity up and down the country.
It’s Welsh language channels and Scottish channels.
Championing new comedy.
It help set up Irish speaking channels for the republic.
it’s a training and breeding ground for talent that’s incredibly well regarded across the world.
it returns £2.83 to the tax payer for every £1 spent

Well that's fair enough really, im just surprised to see how many people are still watching broadcast television.

That's the thing isn't it? THE BBC's motto used to be ""inform, educate, entertain" it might still be, but it certainly doesn't do any of those things anymore and hasn't for years - there are no good documentaries on the bbc anymore, shit like "benefit street" parading as a documentary but being just really predatory or garbage " reality TV," that is largely scripted and edited to fit a narrative, who needs strictly come dancing? Inform? Well the news certainly does but it doesn't do it in an unbiased way anymore and i think im going to avoid any news that is trying to tell me to take a side or how to think.

The BBC is a shit waste of money and is a far cry from what it was 30 years ago.

I don't pay because I got rid of the tv over 10 years ago because I was not not interested, found other things to do.

I don't use iplayer online as I avoid it like the plague, and every year I get a message from them asking if my circumstances have changed, and I just confirm they have not..

I told them they are welcome to send someone round but they have not done that yet.

It is like people who genuinly choose not to pay the tv license fee are pounced on if they purchase a dvd player, which I did and then I had to update them yet again.

Like a lot of people, I just like choice.

I don’t watch live TV so don’t need one. I submit a declaration saying so when the previous one expires, and don’t hear anything else from them about it.

If you're watching quite a lot of BBC though, (and listening to it,) why are you a 'mug?'
