Period Pants Advice for DD please!

DD started at 10y10m10d! and has been road testing period pants for 4 years. Modi B are by far are favoured brand, but she also likes the Wuka ones we can get in Tesco.

The M&S sizing is weird. I just bought size 4 for DD. They don't do "children's" but they do go down to something like a size 2. It might be that you are looking at ones that don't have the full range of sizes.

I do still think you're jumping the gun though.

Modibodi are really good. I do have some Cheeky Wipes ones which are good for the price but Modibodi are noticeably ‘nicer’. Never had any leaks with either though. The Modibodi Puma sports ones are really good, I use those for races and other really active stuff, if she’s sporty.

It could be a while until she starts though. What age were you? My mum was 15 and so was I!

I had breasts developing at 10 but got it at 15, buying them now is overkill, she could be a totally different size and shape by the time her period comes. Also she may not want to use period pants, many people find them a bit icky - I would wait until it happens and then work it out with her at the time

Modi bodi are great. I use them myself. And wuka. They’re both much better than the cheaper Primark and M&S and they last for years. (I’ve owned all of them!)
I own all the absorbancies. I wear the super heavy ones on the heavy days and nights and the light ones on the lighter days.

I've got these. I'm quite heavy. I have worn them all day from morning to night AND slept in them and no leaks.

I bought some primark ones while on holiday once and whereas they are fine and not too bulky, they're more bulky than the above ones and became tatty very quickly.

DD likes the Wuka ones. She found Modibodi very bulky.

As a starter, I’d just get the primark ones as they’re much cheaper. I also wouldn’t worry about absorbency too much, my DD started off very light. More like just spotting for her first few periods and not at all regular. More like every 6-8 weeks.

DD started when she was just turned 12 and the thing that made it clear to us that she was about to start was her moods. She was all of a sudden charged with so much emotion. She had little breast buds etc a year or so before that. But it was the moods that shifted right before she actually started.

As a rule, the "average" timing is about 2 years from when breast buds start to appear so I would think you're still quite a long way off. Have you seen other bod shape changes - hips/waist in particular which I have noticed more recently with DD, but significantly after the breast buds turned up.

In light of her age and liklihood of things not happenign for a while, I would not buy any particularly hard core ones. DD is, most likely going to start her period in the next 6 months and I've bought her a pack of high absorbency from M&S. I don't want to go for a full pack of the better quality ones because she. might well be a different size by the time she actually starts. So this is just to make her feel a bit more secure - she's got a pair in her school bag and her dance bag.

Another vote for the M&S ones. My DD started at 11 and it felt so young at the time.

These have been great for my DD. Very durable and reliable, cheaper than Modibodi.
You probably need 6 pairs - morning, afternoon, bedtime each day as they dry very slowly after washing.

I wear the M&S ones and all I would say is the more the absorbency the thicker they are so maybe start with a medium and try it out? You don't want them to feel too bulky?

M&S ones are good and do a teen range. They are the only brand I've used, and have been really happy with them.
