AIBU to be fed up with work?

I am a lone parent who works part-time in retail usually 20 hours, with childcare costs I just about break even each month. For a while now I (and some other staff members) have been voicing that we would like some extra hours or to atleast be considered for overtime. Many times this has been given and then at short notice removed from the rota with no prior warning. For example, 2 weeks ago I was asked if I could cover an extra day on tuesday coming, I agreed and it was added to the rota so I arranged additional childcare. Today i have checked my schedule and it has now been removed. No discussion, no warning nothing. Just another person's hours changed to reflect those I was supposed to cover. Not surprisingly the person is the lower managers daughter.

I completely understand that overtime is not a given and cant be relied on. However, this is not the first time this has happened, especially where all overtimr the store has seems to go to the managers daughter, whilst many of us are generally working there to survive and would love the little extra money to make a small bit of difference now and again.

Not really sure what my point in posting is because I dont think there is much that can be done but just want some advice or a place to offload i guess.

That’s really unfair and I’m not surprised you’re upset. Is there anyone else at work you could talk to about this? A deputy manager perhaps or your manager’s manager?

That’s terrible, they shouldn’t just be taking hours off you! Can you speak to your supervisor?

Our store manager is currently on AL for 2 weeks, but the last time this happened and a lot of people complained they had some excuse that other stores had used up all the allocated overtime and everyone in the company had it removed whether short staffed or not. Except they can still find the hours for the daughter (her mum also is in charge of rotas).

I would be more understanding of that reason if it wasn't removed with 2 days notice without any word about it. If I hadn't of thought to check today I wouldn't have known that at all. I now have childcare for my DC with no reason for it or any way to make up that pointless financial loss.
