To think this is still wrong

If someone has home care and the person didn’t turn up. They had to take their son to hospital non life threatening and were discharged from it antibiotics. Obviously of course kids come first but Aibu to find it rude that no one one turned up and I had zero communication from them? This is the fourth time in less than a month she’s not come with either little notice ie on the day or none at all

No that's not OK, why didn't she let you know or arrange alternative care instead of just not turning up? Does she still get paid? I'd be looking for another carer.

Sorry, professional home care didn't show up again? If that's right, time to complain or, if paying, look for a different care supplier. If the council supplying, complain to them. They do differ vastly we found.

I’m sure she will as her and the team leader aren’t honest about things with the manager

No notice is never acceptable in any situation, short of a medical emergency involving yourself where you can’t use your phone. Otherwise it’s never impossible to send a text.

That's awful, especially non emergency. We'd all contact our employers about a non-emergency issue if we had to take time off, even for jobs that aren't as important. And for jobs that are vital, there should be a process/replacement staff if one person is off, just as if a surgeon/teacher etc couldn't get to work.

Have you only got one worker on the books by the council? That's very strange, normally care companies have several members of staff. We actually rarely saw the same one.
Can you not explain to the council that you're being let down? Don't ask for contract to be ended (councils hate being told what to do!) but just that you were wondering if there was anyone else, more reliable around instead.

Not acceptable. Put a formal complaint in with the council and utilise the local government and social care ombudsman if the council won't do anything.
