Yes, cba to wait for it to be sold on Vinted and better for the environment to give, rather than throw, it away

Sometimes, I try to sell as much as I can on Vinted as money is really tight but I will also donate lots of dcs toys to charity shops or to the local scout group for their fundraisers.

Yes, sometimes charity shops with gift aid or olio app. Just about everything listed has been collected same day or next day.

Yes as I can’t be arsed with the faff of selling and the higher expectations. And I’m someone who can’t really afford to give stuff away

Yes, most of the things I need to get rid of aren't worth the hassle of trying to sell, so I ask if anyone I know is interested, then either donate or put it outside for passers-by to take (if it's a larger-scale item).

Yes mostly. Occasionally I will try and sell something first but mostly I don't because selling is a faff and also I also have been given many things free so seems right to give back 😀

Yes, but to charity shops/bags, as I found offering things free on socials complete hassle. CF not turning up/asking for extra things/complaining that things weren't in brand new condition.

Same here. I am very thankful for so many things that we've been given for free. I joke that I treat our favourite, local charity shop as a library. We buy a bit from them and donate quite a lot in return.

Yes , I put things outside my front door for people to take, put things on a neighbourhood WhatsApp group and offer things on a “free stuff” Facebook group.

Yes loads of nice narrow shoes this lady with lymphoedema could not wear so I gave all away with regret to a man’s suicide event.

I have also responded in past to larger ladies clothes needed only to never see this in my local charity window. The likes of Oxfam put them on a trailer destined for other parts of UK.

so I now sell only on Vinted. 3 pairs of shoes went in 24 hours and I was able to buy a barely unused set of proper crocs flat shoes that just for once I’ll get into in return.

Always to charity, they send a letter each year telling me I can claim gift aid back which I don’t do but it’s interesting to see how much they raise.

i have put furniture outside my house though on the drive as it’s a faff to arrange collection.

Yes all the time. I dont have a lot of actual money to give away, so I always feel like its my small way of giving back and helping others out. Sometimes its because I just need the space!

I do, but mainly to charity shops now. Sometimes I do FB marketplace if I’m in the mood to be harangued by loons.

Yes, I have a charity near me that takes more or less everything. Furniture, bedding, towels, electrics. They help people in need to set up home, or source things they need. I have been de cluttering and replacing over a long period of time and they have have collected the lot. I would prefer someone to get more use out of my unwanted stiff rather than it go to waste. I also donate to a hygiene bank.

@ViciousCurrentBun is it not the charity that gets the extra funds from your gift aid?

Yes we have a street whatsapp group which started in lockdown and now is a great place to get rid of stuff (and get stuff - recently a beautiful bookcase, huge floor lamp and a drinks trolley).I would rather pass stuff on rather than faff trying to sell .Clothes go to charity shops or the clothes bin collection things.
