Last month it was my partner of 4 years birthday
we have a 1 year old son.

im cringing writing this by the way….
he hates birthdays & Xmas. He’s very awquard 🙄
I asked him so many times leading to his birthday what would you like?
I’ve bought him stuff every year he just doesn’t use it want so I said I prefer to get you something you truly want or need.
he made it clear he wasn’t interested didn’t want nothing but anything I did he was grateful for.
so I thought I’m not putting him through all gifts etc he hates it so I got him a £100 voucher for his fav clothes shop and we was going out for dinner that night (our treat) got him cards too and a little daddy gift from our son.

on the morning I gave it him with our son .. an hour later he was crying in the kitchen!!!!! I said what is wrong!??????? He said don’t matter. I said no tell me what is wrong!?
he said you don’t fkin love me you got me f*ck all you tight bitch !!!!!! And proceeded to cry!!!!!! Packed all his stuff and left after he majorly kicked off. (He has an empty house he owns that he was gonna rent out) he’s gone back there not been back since. No apology nothing. He still fetches our son.

im still gob smacked. Am I the one in the wrong????? Please be honest.
by the way he’s a grown 50 year old x

Well that just doubles his level cuntytwattery to code red. What a baby. That’s an insult to babies. My DS from the moment he was aware of presents and present giving had always been grateful. Never once so much as moaned. Even now as a teen.

A man of 49 really should have reached the point of buying anything he really wants himself and is thus grateful for anything extra OR reached the point of stoicism about birthday and Xmas presents.
I gave my dh a bottle of Scotch for his 50th, he thanked me and went out and bought himself a motorbike!
Can't complain, he'd earned it through years of slog.

This is irrelevant, anyway, as it's clear that with the OP's dh this was just an excuse for him to move out.

No grown adult would be making this much fuss over this.

I would like to think that a hypothetical wife and hypothetical adult children would be more grown up than that.

Have you ever had a girlfriend @shuggles and been with her over one of her birthdays?

Hello 😂 it wasn’t his 50th. He’s 49. Sorry I rounded it up 😂 x

I know that the OP has stated he's 49, but I just want to say that no man of any character, means or substance at this age would give a shiny shite about what anybody else does for his birthday.

He can either afford it himself or is grateful for what he gets.

The making excuses for him because he didn't get what he want is infuriating. Oh poor lamb. Ffs.

Not only is it infuriating but as all of us who have had the misfortune of having manipulative manchild cunts in our lives know, the bastards just look for any f*ing excuse to flip out.

This realisation comes to us sooner or later.
Oh but he liked that food last week but he doesn't this week? And so on.

Either to scare us, assert dominance, keep us off balance or, in this sad sack's case cause he's looking for an excuse to leave.

I hope he stays left.
It might be a good idea to log this outburst with the police.

They won't do anything of course and I honestly wouldn't expect them to but it might be useful in case manchild cunt has another strop.

Foot-stomping, red-faced raging may not be cause for fear when a toddler does it but it sure as heck can be when a grown man does it.

LouiseK93 · 22/09/2026 16:09

A 50 year old man-cunt-child. That is all.

I’m 34 yes xx

Just chuck him back into the sea 😂

I did not receive birthday presents in my later teens. Most teens don't. It comes across as rather infantile for a grown person to be receiving birthday presents from mummy and daddy.

There are young children in my family and I buy presents for them.

I can assure you @shuggles “most teens” do receive gifts on their birthdays

would you like to get married and have children one day @shuggles

It seems you have no capacity to separate your own experience from other people's and you simply assume that everything that happens to you is 'normal for everyone'. News flash - it's not!

That is a good point.

Because @shuggles wasn’t “spoilt” on his birthday and made a bit of a fuss from 16/17 on wards - then no one else should be. Or at least if they want to be - then they’re childish.

shuggles · 21/09/2026 21:16

Flamboyantfred · 21/09/2026 20:00

My point was it was probably a blessing that you don’t have a partner and kids

because if they care about their birthdays - then they’d be sorely disappointed.

You bred with this cretin? Trash took itself out.

TessSaysYes · 21/09/2026 20:18

Well don't let him back in the door for f**k sake. He sounds crazy.

caringcarer · 21/09/2026 20:08

He sounds like an overgrown baby. You asked him what he wanted and instead of saying what he wanted he said nothing but then called you tight because you gave him a £100 voucher. You were perfectly reasonable.

I think it's unreasonable for anyone over the age of 16 to actually care about what they receive for a birthday

so probably a blessing you don’t have a partner or any teens

No to both, but an unusual question given the topic of the thread.

Do you have a partner @shuggles ? Children?

No to both, but an unusual question given the topic of the thread.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 21/09/2026 15:51

He needs to stay in his empty house.

You don’t need this sort of shit around your child

shuggles · 19/09/2026 19:18

I think it's unreasonable for anyone over the age of 16 to actually care about what they receive for a birthday. £100 is a fairly substantial birthday present for a man in his 50s.

I suspect there is something else going on here, and it's not the gift he's upset about.

LobeliaCider · 21/09/2026 12:42

He was already planning to leave and has contrived an excuse to make it your fault.

Sugargliderwombat · 21/09/2026 12:25

Sounds like he's having a mid life crisis because that reaction is mental.

MarchingOnTogether · 21/09/2026 11:29

Is he neurodivergent?

This is sott if thing my 15yr old might do and shes autistic with pda...

Just a thought x

flubber975 · 21/09/2026 11:24

He’s tragic, unhinged and pathetic. Or he’s looking for a reason to split up. Honestly crying over a perfectly good birthday gift would give me the ick so bad. Forget him.

RonaldDahl · 21/09/2026 11:07

What a pathetic arse. Don’t let him back. Make sure he pays child support.
