Orgasm headache - A&E?!

Sorry for the TMI but I'll get it over with quickly.

90 mins or so ago my Saturday morning lie in ended in the way it often does, with a masturbation induced orgasm.

TMI over 😀

immediately afterwards,.for the first time in my life, a thunderclap headache.

I have read about these before (including on here). I now feel fine, and have since got up, had some toast, had a shower etc. exactly as normal. But I have googled it and it said that if it's the first time I should go to A&E immediately! This seems to go against the advice on here, and I feel absolutely fine now as if nothing happened.

I really don't want to spend the day in a&e but I also really don't want to die! AIBU to ignore Dr Google (who also told me I had skin cancer when I was actually just wearing the wrong clothes in hot weather) or do I really need to have the world's most embarrassing trip to a&e?

I have ‘ice pick’ headaches all the time and ignore them. I always assumed a ‘thunderclap’ headache was grasping at your head screaming type pain that wouldn’t dissipate a minute later?

Btw I've felt the earth move before never induced a headache !

NHS Scotland tells me to go to A&E if it's never happened before, but also that the dangerous ones tend to happen at the moment of orgasm whereas mine was a few seconds later. Currently on hold to 111.

In fairness, we had a number of nurses, including A&E, and doctors commenting on here - will never forget a paediatric consultant on here who advised a distressed mum that she should give honey to the toddler who swallowed a round battery or suchlike - to prevent gullet burning. V.impressive.

Very dangerous ‘advice’. Orgasms can induce thunderclap headaches. They can be deadly. Even after they’ve dissipated because of the risk of haemorrhage. The advice is to always seek immediate medical advice.

This is the reason you should not ask on here. None of us have x-ray eyes and there will always be bad advice like this. Trust your gut or at least call the professionals on 111.

On another thread yesterday a woman pretended to be a medic and told someone not to go to A&E as she’d be wasting their time.

Turned out she was actually a cleaner. And the op did go to a&e and was immediately admitted and is still there.

It is an emergency. I've sent these people up to ED for assessment before. They need a scan. Don't spread misinformation

I had exactly this, the pain was excruciating and actually thought I was dying. I did end up going to A&E but once I said it was straight after orgasm they said it happens sometimes and weren't too worried. Can't remember what tests they did - think they did bloods and some basic cognition stuff.. no scan that i can remember. Haven't had it since, thankfully. Was terrifying

This happened to me a couple of times years ok and dissipated after a few minutes. It was very frightening at the time but its never happened again

The point is that it might be an emergency. And yes it was a wank but that involves increased heartbeat and other things that could happen under other circumstances so I can kind of see Google's point. But other threads on here suggest differently and i do feel fine now .

A thunderclap headache can be deadly, it is indeed an emergency. If it's a thunderclap headache.

It was at the base of my head. Yes intense pain. Maybe I am misusing the term thunderclap but I Googled orgasm headache and it mentioned urgent a&e if it hasn't happened before (which it's not).

Phone 111 and discuss. We can't really judge the clinical need tbh - I'm not a Dr, but I've had many decades of migraine, cluster headache and ice pick headache but only one orgasm induced instant headache. It was fine but that doesn't mean everyone else's are!
