AIBU to believe Charles Spencer after watching this BBC clip?

he is a deeply damaged unpleasant man who had had 4 wives and several
of his children do not communicate with him. I think he is spinning bullshit to make money out of his deceased sister, and he’s a fucking disgrace.

I could imagine KC saying they’ll forget her soon enough referring to the crowds. Even he wouldn’t think her family would ever forget her.

I don’t know a great deal about Spencer but I know he has recently spoken about how he suffered abuse as a child at boarding school

Im sure that can take a life time to work through and may have affected his marriages.

I heard him interviewed on Giles Brandreths podcast and he came across well .

Just goes to show, for all the titles and lineage, that members of the aristocracy can still be absolute classless money-grubbing oiks just like anyone else.

When someone is stressed/suffering grief their perspective can differ. He may have made an interpretation that he absolutely believes to be true but was not what was said

you will also find some undesirable traits looking into Charles Spencer’s history. That family sold Diana like a prize cow. They knew exactly what the relationship would look like but wanted the prestige of being close to the Royal Family.

He has apparently said as it's approaching the 30 year anniversary he didn't want to read hearsay and bystander accounts and felt it appropriate to tell his side.

It’s very curious for him to make such a huge statement like this. The implication is he does not support the Monarchy - and thereby he does not want his nephew to be king (or at least is deliberately hurting the popularity of what his nephew will inherit). It’s hard to believe his sister would want her son to be hurt this way?

The Diana-William link is where Charles Spencer really loses me. Diana would have supported William (and Harry) in her own way no matter what. She probably would have helped them sort out their issues.

Diana would put William’s wellbeing above her brother’s ‘truth’ without question. Charles Spencer is harming his sister’s child and it’s not ok.

Still I doubt the King said exactly what Spencer is alleging. Equally tempers and emotions were likely running high.

People say all sorts of things in the heat of the moment, in emotionally charged situations and given the breakdown of his marriage I can only imagine how cross both men might have been at one another. Regardless of who treated who badly, it is appalling of Charles Spencer to be airing dirty laundry in this way.

Maybe it was said in the heat of grief and pressure, which would have been off the scale at the time. But it was also clear at the time that any hope of Diana being forgotten was never going to be the case.

I can also well imagine CS as a goady little fuck who could quite easily provoke an angry outburst. I can remember his funeral speech very clearly and it was laced with spite, not just the words but the delivery.

I think it’s worth reminding people of this quote, made about his wife and mother of his children at the time of their divorce:
