Dont know but I cant bear Earl Spencer. Is he giving a second thought to how this affects his nephews? Also serialising the book in the Daily Mail...one of the rags that hounded Diana, her sons, and countless other families...really??

Get a job you overprivleged twonk.

Sadfrog · 19/09/2026 16:29

I can’t help but feel like it’s also a bit of PR for Harry to win a bit of support back for him. Im
not sure why now & I suppose why at all. I believe it but not sure what the point is now. Everyone knew what C was like to her. It’s strange IMO. Which is why I think Harry is somehow involved.

Mcdhotchoc · 19/09/2026 16:24

Who cares?
Really? This happened nearly 30 years ago. Divorce/acrimonious split.
Why dredge it all up now? Money/publicity/ whatever.
Charles is King. He will do that till the end of his days and then his son will take over. As it has been for more than 1000 years.

Even if it is true that KC said that, Charles Spencer should have done the decent thing, and kept his counsel. It is really not on, what he has done here. Has he forgotten he has nephews?

Absolutely, he owes it to his nephews to keep his gob shut. What is the point of this?

I dont actually believe him but its muck raking.

Yes it will be hurting Diana's children, which in turn will affect their own children, as they will pick up on the stress being caused to their parents, over this. It is wrong what Charles Spencer has done.

Diana made the choice to speak very publicly about her life and marriage and the RF which may well have affected her children at the time, when they were still very young. I can't judge whether she was right or wrong to do that and it hardly matters any more now.

But I am not sure it is reasonable to blame Charles Spencer for also speaking out now (when her children are adults with children of their own) or to expect him to be any more scrupulous in protecting them, than their own mother was.

GCAcademic · 19/09/2026 09:49

The man has many expensive divorces to pay for, hence the book, and is not known for his integrity. So I would take anything he says with a large dose of salt.

Totally agree! Why now after all these years. He and Harry are out to milk the situation for their own ends.

Shineonyoucrazy · 19/09/2026 15:27

I don’t believe it. KC looked ashen and shell shocked at the time, he had two boys to think of. In times of crisis memory and laying down memories is really affected. Even if CS honestly believes this happened, it is disgusting to raise it now.

Yes

What Spencer has done is very very wrong

It hurts KC3 and by extension the crown and William and George.

It also hurts Harry. Imo. But I'm not sure Harry will understand that

What CS has done is totally contrary to what he said in his eulogy and what he said in interviews 20 ish years ago

I think deliberately hurting your own BLOOD relatives who you swore to help, makes you an absolute cunt

And I'm no royalist. I don't condone KC3 or any of them......but Spencer takes the fucking biscuit

Vile scrote

PhyllisTwigg · 19/09/2026 15:17

CS has a book to sell and it will no doubt be the basis for Harry's next Netflix documentary.

100%. I absolutely believe that this happened as Charles Spencer described. I was really unimpressed by the Palace statement with its insinuation that CS's grief must have caused him to misremember - without stating outright that he was wrong. If what CS said was false why not just say that?

They must be really upset that the decades of gaslighting and undermining Diana and boosting their own popularity has been set back by CS accusations. The cold fury shows in this statement.

But the default RF position is to protect its principals, either by covering up the truth or by outright lying. When the accusations against Andrew first came to light, the palace statement was that these were 'false and without foundation'. So they - the spokespersons of our Head of State - were happy to smear a sex trafficking victim as a liar in order to protect Andrew (and are protecting him to this day).

And all that described above is far worse than having divorces .

The attempt to paint Spencer as unreliable because he’s been divorced several times is pathetic .

We have solid proof that the Windsors lie and cover up far more serious issues than Charles’s very shocking remark about his deceased ex wife.

I’m not convinced that the palace is particularly worried about that remark though. They know Diana is favoured over Charles .
There’s more there in that book that is panicking them .

Notsosweetcaroline · 19/09/2026 15:14

Good grief , this thread, it’s been 30 years, I doubt either can remember accurately what was said, and both believe their own truth

the only thing that would hurt William and Harry is Charles writing a salacious novel and trying to profit from her. Harry probably feels vindicated he’s not the only one who behaves so poorly and William raises an eyebrow

charles and Diana were divorced. They disliked each other intensely. Her dying didn’t change that. It’s hardly news to her children.

Funandnames · 19/09/2026 11:01

It’s very curious for him to make such a huge statement like this. The implication is he does not support the Monarchy - and thereby he does not want his nephew to be king (or at least is deliberately hurting the popularity of what his nephew will inherit). It’s hard to believe his sister would want her son to be hurt this way?

The Diana-William link is where Charles Spencer really loses me. Diana would have supported William (and Harry) in her own way no matter what. She probably would have helped them sort out their issues.

Diana would put William’s wellbeing above her brother’s ‘truth’ without question. Charles Spencer is harming his sister’s child and it’s not ok.

Edited

Are you serious ?

We only know what the Windsors want us to know.

We wouldn’t know about Andrew and Epstein if it weren’t for the partial release of the Epstein files in the USA . The Windsors only acted once we knew some of Andrew’s activities . They been covering up for decades. Epstein was first convicted of soliciting a minor in 2008.

They'd still be covering up now if they could.

We’ve had 30 years of the Windsors PR working against Diana in order to try to boost Camilla.

I think you are wrong that there will be little interest in the book.

He certainly sounds believable but as pp said why come out with this now all these years later? Other than to sell books

awful for the sons to have to deal with whaever the truth is

All those divorces must have been costly and now he has a new wife to fork out for, he probably needs the money - what else is a profligate to do?

Quine0nline · 19/09/2026 14:53

Is there anyone who has gone through a messy and acrimonious divorce who would not be happy with the demise of their ex?

I don't believe LDS was the innocent unaware naive child we are and or were sold. "What attracted you to the immensely wealthy and future king?"

Why do I think of Jane Seymour and the Norfolk's in Henry 8th time when I think of the Spencers?

The thing is we all kind of know everything there was / is to know about Charles and Diana, her death, the funeral, aftermath etc. Those of us old enough. So a book about that, 30 years after, ain't gonna sell unless there's new gossip. Spencer has therefore added a few fibs.

Ffs, it’s been nearly 30 years and this guy is still dining out on his dead sister.
I wonder why Spencer, who has I believe three ex wives and seven children to support in the lifestyle to which they’ve become accustomed, would be writing s scandalous book with various media deals on top after all this time? It’s mystifying. 😐

I think they're both hideous men who've treated women terribly, but yes, I believe him. To be honest, I can't see how Diana's death would have been a shock to Charles Windsor.

Eddielizzard · 19/09/2026 13:44

Even if KC did say those things, it was the worst period of his life and it was a private call. How would we all fare if our worst moments were made public for everyone to judge?

IMO CS comes out of this looking bad. What is to be gained from this book, other than make money?

Whether KC did or didn’t, publishing it 30 years on is deliberately unpleasant to Spencer’s ‘blood family’ his nephews.

Nofeckingway · 19/09/2026 13:17

I have no love of the monarchy . But I can't believe that Charles would be so indiscreet by saying such a thing to Spencer . He would be so cautious about what he said or how he handled this , knowing how hostile people were to him regarding Diana . And how popular she was . Why would he be so foolish as to say such negative things to Diana's brother who was no friends of his .

If he did feel any satisfaction about Diana's death he would have kept it to himself or only confided in Camilla.

Charles Spencer is trying to portray himself as some kind of reasonable decent guy . But his divorces were hostile and some of his children don't speak to him . He wasn't invited to his daughter's wedding.
Another disgruntled aristo betraying his family to make money from a book .
