Charles was apparently giddily elated at Diana's death

I think it's a bit much really, to tell this to the world, when her two sons will hear of it.
If my sister died, and her ex-husband sounded elated about it when we spoke on the phone about it, I would never in a million years ever repeat it in a way that would risk their two children finding out. No matter how hurt I was by his reaction, my priority would be not to reveal this to their children.
I can't understand why he has told the world.

Men grifting on a deads woman name is gross, wish they would leave her rest in peace. Different to celebrate her life, but its these 'tell all' accounts that stir contraversy and bad feeling. As her brother surely the insight actual Diana fans would want (and not just anti-royalist/drama junkies) was into her accomplishments, unique insight no one else saw.

The bit that doesn’t ring true for me is that I struggle to imagine ‘giddy elation’ as King Charles’ response to anything!

Also I’m so bored by people trading off bad mouthing other people. As they say there are always three versions of the truth: your story, their story, and the bit in the middle where those two truths meet.

I doubt anyone cares but I know a few who would have the same reaction if their Ex died.

The kids don’t need to know though. That Earl of Spencer should look at his own messy house.

In the unlikely event it was true, it was also pretty stupid given Charles and Diana were already divorced and openly seeing other people. The reaction to Diana’s death probably delayed Charles’ marriage to Camilla by 10 years rather than either bringing it forward or making it easier.

I completely agree with you. Who in gods name needs to know any of this so called ‘truths’ that he is spouting. Does he really think his sister would have approved of this awful attempt to make money out of her son’s most traumatic life event. I think he’s awful. I would expect at least one of his nephews to never speak to him again.

I don't know that it's quite the same. The children are in their 40s and their mother's death, and father's reaction to it, has been discussed ad finitum for the last 30 years.
