To ask whether Birkenstock Boston clogs are worth it in a British winter?

I’ve just bought a pair and love them, but I’m not sure with the weather we get! Are they worth it?

They’re soooo comfy!! Wearing them this morning and to be honest I think they’ll be perfect for the dry days. My other Birkenstocks are amazing for the summer. I kind of wish they made ankle boots or something with the same fit and comfort!

I had Buckleys, they were great in the winter as somewhat waterproof. Too wide for me though

I have just bought some of the suede ones, I will only be wearing them on dry days on proper paths. Planning on wearing with scrunch socks, legging and a big chunky knit

I have many more pairs than I should but the shearling Bostons are my absolute favourite, especially in winter. I live in the Pennines where it rains. A lot. I still wear them. I only swap to boots when there’s snow on the ground. Top tip: spray your shoes with waterproofing.

They’re fine but not in rain. I wear mine with thermal socks in winter.

Mine don’t see the light of day in autumn and winter, they wouldn’t be comfortable in rain or on wet ground. Tbh they’re not what I choose for any kind of walk anyway, I only really wear them for popping out to shops and in the garden.

I live in the West of Scotland and love my Birkenstocks all year round. I have suede sheepskin version and they are really cosy without socks or with chunky big wool socks in the winter. Okay, I wouldn’t wear them on a dog walk in the rain but I do get a lot of wear out of them. My favourite shoe and I’d say definitely my best buy footwear ever, considering how much I wear them!

I have some and wear them with thick socks. Obviously not ideal for a long walk or in really cold or wet weather. But I live in the middle of Edinburgh so walking 5 mins to a cafe or popping to get something from the shops - fine!

I have several pairs - love a Boston/chunky knit sock/barrel leg jean outfit in autumn. I wear the suede ones more in spring/summer. In the depths of winter they’re only really for chucking on with leggings for going to reformer, in any rain or a bit of frost they can be slippy underfoot. I actually have a shearling pair as slippers which are great because I can go out in the garden/bins etc in them.

I have had some for years - they aren't really warm enough for being outside for long as they are quite roomy even with thick socks. Better in autumn/spring.

This is what I’m thinking. Obviously not for rainy days (I have boots for that!)

I have the Londons which are the Bostons but with a back. I bought them with winter in mind.

I've got both the leather and the suede ones but wouldn't want to get them wet. Just looked on the site to find the birko flor nubuck are synthetic, so maybe that'll not be so bad in wet weather. You'll have to trial it out one day in the rain.

Have you got the leather ones or suede? Both will not be suitable for wet weather. You can get normal shoe ones from Birks if you like the brand.

They’re the Birko-flor nubuck ones

I don’t live in a place that tends to get a lot of snow, I’m thinking for clear crisp days with some socks!
