To buy a dry robe as a winter coat?!

I have a wild moose that I’ve had for six years. Still keeps me completely dry. It’s like walking the dog in my duvet.

I also use it after sea swims in colder weather.

Guess I learned in school not to swear at people, be aggressive toward them and have such a blantantly poor attitude.

Wear what you like. Still hideous.

I have a dupe one that cost me £90 from Amazon that I wear to walk the dog in the winter. I could not give a shiny shit what I look like or what anybody thinks, it’s one of the best purchases I ever made. It really does keep you dry and warm.

You say your raincoat is quite thin. Mine is too but I just wear a thin fleece under it. Sorted!

I get regatta coats, they are waterproof and windproof, I get them for around £10 from eBay.

I see people wearing it all the time in non coastal areas - supermarkets, footie games, dog walks etc.

Well if you’re not wearing it in a coastal town where the fuck are you allowed to wear it. I was bought one by someone who lived in a coastal town… Cornwall no less. Poor me… what shall I do if the locals laugh at me 🙄

Seasalt do really good ones! I've got Janelle & Hunters, and nikwax wash them every couple of years to re- waterproof them.

• before these, I nearly bought a dryrobe - really pleased I didn't- they look really naff when not worn for their purpose.

I faced the same dilemma last year and managed to find one that looks a wee bit better than a dry robe. It's from Holland Cooper. The price is a bit on the steep side at £249 (although I got mine in their summer sale so it was a fair bit cheaper) but it has all the benefits of a dry robe (waterproof, fleece lining etc) with a few nice details e.g. faux leather trim. I’m also in the SW and got an Animal one in the Mountain Warehouse sale. I love parka style coats anyway so it’s not a world away. Looking forward to wearing it as soon as cold / wet enough. Don’t care if anyone else thinks anything about it tbh & I don’t see why they should. I’ll hopefully be cosy and dry and that’s all that matters.

OP is interested in coat for its waterproof function. Regatta has 5000 waterproof rating, the two I have mentioned are 15000 (?maybe more) so will keep her dryer and warmer.

I got a Tesco dupe for £60, it’s fleece lined and so warm. And totally waterproof!

I live in Cornwall and have a Seasalt Plant Hunter coat. It's great, comes to above knee, and has enough padding/fleece hood to make it warm without it being overly hot. QVC have them half price at the moment

What about a damson madder rain coat?

I have this from Regatta. It's effectively a puffer coat with the quilting showing on the inside. Very warm. Very waterproof.

I think it’s ok for sidelines at the football or rugby but not for going to the office or a restaurant

I haven’t RTFT so someone may have mentioned this already but I’d recommend an Oodie coat. Fully waterproof. They feel very lightweight but I’ve never felt so warm and cosy in any other coat. And an awful lot cheaper than £300.

Not read the whole thread but I have one, bought it for sea swimming but have tried wearing it for walking when the weather is good and don’t find it holds up to heavy/driving rain.
Lovely and cosy but not fully waterproof for some bizarre reason.

Ugly and wanky.
It’s not a case of comfort at all costs.
Buy something else.

As a parent who stands in the rain during rugby season and has a dog I put off buying one for years as I don’t like the look of them, but then I found one I liked, it was £250 but it was stylish and I’m into season 2 not and adore it, it is from Holland Cooper, apparently it’s a famous brand, I had no idea as most of my clothes are supermarket, Vinted, next etc!! Someone I worked with told me!! Anyhow don’t regret it at all!!
