To chase job offer again

I was told on Tuesday 08/09 that I would receive a job offer by the end of the week.
I didnt hear anything so I emailed the recruiter at lunch time on the Monday who said the hiring company was working on it that day and it should be with me shortly.
its now Thursday and I still haven't received it - should I email to chase the recruiter again or hold off? Its been over a week since they told me about it now.
I dont want to annoy anyone but also the suspense is killing me
so AIBU to chase?

I think you may be right in that they either found someone else or that the position just isnt even available as they are only just starting out and there isnt the budget for it.
Hopefully something comes along soon

Third option and most likely - they are disorganised and unprofessional

If they haven't come back to you with an offer by now, they are unlikely to do it at all. Sounds to me like they are keeping you as a back up and waiting for the person they actually want to accept and sign so they can give you the "I'm sorry" response. I would stop chasing as it's making you sound very desperate and keep looking. I would in fact apply for another job with the same recruiter (regardless of whether you want that job) to show them that you are tired of their unprofessional attitude. Keep job hunting and forget about this one, if it materialises then you can consider whether it's worth working for them or not. Many, many years ago I had a very similar situation with a start-up, they offered me a job verbally, but the contract never came. It turns out they no longer had the budget for the role but didn't bother informing me. I dodged a bullet there.

I’d keep looking… disheartening though it is. I once had a third interview and was told she just needed to talk to HR and get an offer out. I was so delighted. Was desperate to leave where I was working. Sadly that offer never materialized. Recruiter later told me they had a rethink and went for a junior person. Hopefully that’s not the position, but they do sound a bit disorganized.

i feel like its consuming my thoughts constantly but I dont want to seem annoying keep chasing

You write it off without a backward’s glance.

This sounds like a disorganised mess of a small start up. If this is it’s approach to bringing on people to its new business, it will go under within a year

Hopefully the OP is still job hunting.

Even if the job offer arrives immediately, she has not yet seen the salary or the T&Cs so who knows what the offer might contain. The job description and offer might bear no resemblance to what has been discussed so far - e.g. why is the company still undecided about the salary? If the OP has any questions or wants to negotiate any of the terms of the contract, how receptive will the company be and what priority will they give to this?

I got offered a job once and had to chase for the official offer and contract not once, but twice.

This was a red flag that I should have paid more attention to, the place was an absolute shambles and I left after six months.

They've shown you who they are

I’d stop chasing, they may be poorly organised and just not got round to it but I’d keep looking for other opportunities - they’ll learn not to keep people hanging.

I hope you haven’t stopped job hunting.

At this point, I wouldn’t want to work for such a piss poorly disorganised small start up. They should be very keen to secure good staff for their new start up. And clearly - they aren’t

As I say - they made a commitment and have failed to keep it. Not just by a day or two but a week and still outstanding.

I would be wary on your shoes
