There are Core number of regular posters who are drawn to these threads to try to shut down conversation when it's not going their way. They have lost perspective about the truth on immigration. Great, I’m glad to hear it that you support safe routes - and I agree, in a civilised society that should exist for the most vulnerable. Our current system makes it dangerous for women to travel, which is why we see just less than half of all asylum applicants from women and children.

Safe routes would make it possible for more women. It’s a really important part of the solution and one that many vocal anti-immigration voices oppose.

There is a passage in Mein Kampf - where Jewish men are being characterised as sexual predators to be feared and losthed. Of course a few particular incidents and images are used as evidence to whip up hatred for all Jews as sexual deviants snd predators. The dispossessed and despised post war German needed someone to despise more.

The KKK employed similar tactics - trying to scare people into believing all black men were, by dint of their very nature and culture, animalistic sexual predators. Of course they could always find some that were (because sexual predators exist in any group of men). But they exploited those examples as propaganda to characterise all black men.

You don't need to point out what goes on in places like Afghanistan. Anybody in their right mind is beyond appalled at the treatment of women.

Being born in a country does not mean you agree with the regime or what goes on. The majority of normal people in Afghanistan despise the Taliban and live in terror. Why would you flee if you identified as a key member of the Taliban 'establishment?'

In any group of 1000 men there will be some that are potentially dangerous. That is men - I don't care where they come from. In that group of 1000 there will also (obviously) be men who are gay, bisexual, traumatised, bewildered, highly motivated to seek a better life, mentally ill, highly intelligent, decent, kind, not so kind - the full spectrum of human men basically.

To characterise any ethnic or cultural group by the actions of a small minority is the very definition of racism. It was the Nazi playbook. It was the KKK plsybook. And it's happening again. Yeah we're not doing this. We've had a whole year of lefties gleefully celebrating the public assassination of Charlie Kirk and more recently the murder of Anne Widdicombe. Now we have campaigners being hospitalised with boiling liquid. I think we're going to have to agree to unite against political violence and make a serious effort to stamp it out, or stop expecting decency and civility from those on the other side of the aisle.

They are almost obsessed by the topic and have lost all perspective about everything else going on in the world. They use these threads to spend hatred and are clearly not happy in their lives. I am so grateful that my world is not like this, and the people that live in it are not wired this way.
