How to quietly reduce my work ethic and rate to keep ticking over rather than going above and beyond at work.

I have had enough of doing the lions share of work. Although I have to produce work at a certain rate, I want to work smarter with no *ucks to give. Wisemumsnetters please part with any useful advice

What does your line manager say about your performance? I work with a couple of people who do ‘too much’. They are great performers but when resentment starts to build in it can be counterproductive and lead to burn out and team issues.
Start with timing. Keep to your contract hours. Then plan in enough ‘down time’ to keep on top of admin and any tasks that stress you. Some people book in space in their calendar for this to avoid meetings taking over.
Do you feel fairly remunerated for what you do? Can you discuss pay against performance so you at least don’t feel taken advantage of? (I’m in the Civil Service and it’s very hard to match pay to performance!).

The unhappiest people where I work are those who try least. For my own self worth I work hard.

Rather than trying to fuck around more, can you find a job where the satisfaction is inherent? Charity, government, work with some point to it.

Depends what you do really? The advice would be quite different depending if you were, for example, a zookeeper or a bus driver or a brain surgeon.
