A couple of months ago my 3 year old came home from nursery with an eye injury and grab and scratch marks on his arms and body (nothing was said at collection). I discovered this when we were home and flagged it with the nursery. He told me and later the nursery manager he'd been removed from a room by this worker, let's call her C, fallen on stairs and hit his eye. His older brother and other staff saw him being taken from the room.
I took him to the GP and got the injuries documented. C was suspended for 3/4 weeks whilst a full multi agency investigation took place. It didn't meet the criminal threshold (which is high), there was no cctv. So then it was left to internal disciplinary processes. I was told by the nursery manager C had gone against protocol and removed him from the base room, up stairs and into an isolated room, but denied he had fallen and hit his eye, denied grabbing him (she was seen pulling him from the room) and it was his word against hers. C has been put on a final warning but thinks she's done nothing wrong and protocol doesn't always apply to her. I'm disappointed with the outcome, she essentially got a few weeks paid leave and is now back at work, but it is what it is.
The problem is I now have to see C on the school run, and her daughter is in my son's school class, so I have years of seeing her name pop up on Whatsapp, her acting like she's done nothing wrong after essentially abusing my child. This is a large nursery, part of a chain, and we had no problems in the years before this (that we knew of). I'm so angry these people are allowed to be around children unchecked, parents don't know what has happened (I haven't told anyone, I trusted the process, but believe me I'm tempted) if I had my time again I wouldn't be sending my children to nursery. How do I deal with this? I'm bound to see her at class parties as well as several times a week at school.
