Arms race in space?! WTF? AIBU to despair of humanity?!

I mean, how bloody ridiculous are we as a species that, not content with developing computers that are forecast to wipe us all out, we are also taking our idiocy into SPACE and launching WEAPONS IN SPACE. For fuck’s sake!!

I mean yeah, it's mad - but we've sort of been here before, with President Reagan's 'Star Wars' plan (Strategic Defense Initiative) - the idea was to use space-based weapons to intercept and destroy nukes/Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles.
