To ask if anyone does a salary sacrifice car lease scheme?

And if it's worth it for you? Also if it's worth driving a new car? I've only ever had cars over 10 years old, I've heard some of the features like lane assist can be annoying on the new ones.
I went in a colleague's 2026 EV the other week, I mean it was fine, but it was a tool to get from a to b still, it didn't eject champagne and canapés from the dashboard or develop wings!

Some great tax savings if you get an EV or hybrid car. Look at the net cost rather than just the gross as is a big jump in savings either way lower/0 emission cars.

Mine is a fixed price for everything and I like having the certainty. Also feel you get treated a bit nicer when it’s through a work scheme and not a personal one as they want to keep the employer happy!

My husband has the option, but when he looked at it, the provider he could get it with was more pricey than other leasing options outside of work so he doesn’t bother. He just takes it as salary that he doesn’t receive pension on (or something!).

To add, ours was a no brainer. The net cost of the EV car is less than we were paying a month on petrol in an old petrol car 😑

Ive had one since January and its been great so far. Ive gone for a lower priced option as my main reason was to save ££ not to have a flashy car. It costs about £3 a week to charge for my millage, I dont have to worry about repairs or MOTs anymore. Like you id always had older the cars the one I had before this was 15 years old so even though its not top of the range its still amazing in comparison.

Yeah same as PP my work EV costs me less than my fuel per month plus insurance charge at home for like 30 per month

Just be a little careful if you plan on moving jobs in the future, check the contract on how long you're tied in for 👍🏼

And what impact it has on your pension, any redundancy payment or anything else where they take your salary into account.

I think it depends a lot on the scheme, the costs of the ones I've been offered through work (NHS scheme) were eye watering! I think they worked out better value if you were in the higher tax brackets, but it wasn't affordable for me. Or practical for that matter, as they only offered full EVs and my mileage is too high/unpredictable for them just yet.
