Blood trapped in womb after ERPC. Help!

Had a surgical ERCP 10 days ago, have had pelvic, stomach and back pain since with bleeding that comes and goes, one minute I’m soaking maternity pads and the next I have nothing for 12 hours. I also lost clots.

Had a scan today and the report says

“endometrium is distended by a moderate to large amount of heterogenous fluid with mixed echogenicity within the cavity. No vascularity demonstrated on colour Doppler. Appearances are suggestive with blood products.”

The nurse that saw me after said the Dr was too busy to see me and to go to A&E because of my pain, I asked if she could explain to me what was happening and she said the Dr isn’t concerned about anything than me getting pain relief (60mg codeine and paracetamol not touching it).

I didn’t want to go and sit in A&E because to be honest, this is all a bit of a nightmare and I’m very tearful. I just wanted to go pick my son up from the babysitter and get my daughter from school on time.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? They also took blood to make sure my HCG is falling and a blood count to check my HB levels.

This sounds very wrong to me. I had an ERPC at almost 9 weeks and there was almost no blood loss afterwards - just light spotting for a couple of days. I thought the EEPC was supposed to remove everything?

@Maray1967I’ve had 4 ERPC’s before and had light spotting for up to 48 hours after then nothing until my next cycle. This is a different hospital and I feel really fobbed off and worried about all of this blood/fluid in my womb.

I hope you get some help quickly. I forgot to add that I had no pain, just slight discomfort. I didn’t opt for one with my first two mcs because I thought I might be in a bad way afterwards and did not want my older DC to be aware of it, but it turned out to be a very easy procedure.

Does the hospital have a gynae emergency room? I don’t suppose you’re anywhere near Liverpool as the Women’s hospital does.

I don't like the sound of this, you shouldn't have profuse bleeding like that post procedure, so please get it checked out. The usual things apply that mean immediate medical attention is needed quickly, dizzyness, heavy bleeding, clots, feeling unwell etc. You know yourself that you are not right. Please get seen.

@Maray1967With all of mine, I just had mild period like cramps for a day. This has all been so different and I feel so unwell still. I just feel at a loss on what to do. I’m also shivery on and off, dizzy and my eyesight has suddenly gone blurry a couple of times. I definitely don’t feel right. Thank you for replying x

Sounds like you may have retained products. Depending on the measurements you may need some medication to help pass it. You need to be seen by gynae or epau asap as there is a risk of infection. Please ring you GP or attend a walk in centre to get referred to the local emergency gynae service, I'm a bit surprised noone has contacted you about the scan results and the plan?

The shivering makes me think you may well have an infection. I’d get yourself to A& E quickly.

Op you seem really unwell to me. I think you should follow the advice of the nurse and go to a and e.

I think you should go to a &e too. You sound very unwell. Terrible of the hospital to fob you off like that. I hope you're ok.

Ignore others not being worried, it's how YOU feel right now, so act on your instincts. Go now or as soon as you can, you sound quite unwell to me.

Let us know how you are doing when you get seen, because I really think that's what you need to do now. Best of luck x

Just to update, I’m in hospital having 3 different antibiotics via drip and a repeat ERPC is being done today.

glad you are now having correct care and hope you feel better soon. Look after yourself as it sounds like you have had a serious infection. Hope there is someone at home to let you recover from this x

Good to hear that you acted on your instincts by going to the hospital. Great that you are getting treated and they are planning a repeat procedure. It's not pleasant but it's necessary and you are in the right place now. Best of luck with the next round x.

I had a repeat scan at 4pm (was supposed to be 2pm), my womb is filled with blood, tissue and clots and free fluid has been noted in POD. Saw surgeon, they got me prepped at 6pm, stockings and gown on. Come 9pm they told me it would now be tomorrow (today). I was waiting for a bag of fluids as have been nil by mouth since getting to A&E on Thursday night (haven’t had anything to eat since 14:00 on Thursday). Fell asleep due to oramorph, just woke up, still no fluids, my head is pounding and I’m so so thirsty. I’m past the point of being hungry I’m just desperate for a drink. Spoke to nurse who said I can’t have anything but a couple of sips of water now. So fed up and just want to go home to my family 😢 I thought maybe they’d bring me a sandwich or something as I asked the nurse if I could eat something when she told me procedure was delayed and she said yes and she’d sort something (hospital shop and restaurant closed but they time). I obviously fell asleep but stupidly assumed they’d wake me to tell me they’d left a sandwich or similar. Argh I am waffling on probably not making sense but im so over this situation 😭

Have you got anybody who can advocate for you? This matter should be referred to PALS urgently. I hope you get your surgery today 💐

My DH is at home with the children @StopGoand I honestly just feel so depressed and exhausted that I dont have it in me to complain right now. The nurse has just put up a third bag of tranexamic acid and hooked up fluids too and said she will start them after the TA has finished.

I don't often say complain but you really should COMPLAIN! Initial management after the abnormal scan was dangerously poor & now
you're being left dehydrated waiting on surgery. Insist on fluids and start talking about PALS to the staff - usually means they will pay more attention to you (in a good way)

Thanks @StopGo& @EricTheHalfASleeve. They connected the drip of fluids, I woke up 2 hours later and they’d forgot to unclip the flow so nothing had gone in 🙄 still waiting on surgery, still not had anything to eat, they’ve let me have 3 sips of water before taking it off me because my (TMI) urine is literally the colour of lucozade.

I had the repeat surgery on 19th and I’ve still got constant stomachache/heavy feeling like I’m wearing an invisible weight from my sides across central to lower stomach. Pelvis also hurts. I’ve had a weeks worth of antibiotics as of today and 7 days of blood thinning injections. My bleeding is minimal but something doesn’t feel right to me.

I might try and see my GP Monday.
