Honestly getting rid of talented djs, at least matt who seems to be properly trained, for an influencer is insane?!

You say at 43 you’re not their target audience - I’m 57’ and have just gone back to Greg James in the morning because listening to Sara Cox at breakfast is like listening to CBeebies radio

I personally think that Charlie would bully melvin. I think something will Come out about problems at the bbc again, and she'll be there for bullying melvin

Also replacing melvin and rickie with jerry - dunno, theres something wrong there and theyre protecting her against future blowback from melvin

Same, I am 34 but still want to feel current?! 😄 - i want to hear the latest pop songs and to hear Matt and mollie chat about things adults can relate to, but not about drawing your pension 🙄

I absolutely agree!! I'm 46 and I still listen to radio 1 every day, can't stand radio 2. I've never understood why radio 2 are still playing 80s music, when they were playing 80s music 30 years ago. It makes no sense!!!
I like almost all of the music on radio 1 so I don't want to switch, but I just listened to GK Barry's radio 1 show for the 1st time and hated it. Greg, Matt and Mollie are my faves and I feel like they carry the whole station, why would they replace even one of Matt and Mollie's shows with her???
It's a shame they've split up Rickie Melvin & Charlie too 🙁

Greg James is awesome! I really like him and listen to him every morning. He's fantastic for the young-uns and mental health, and he gives so much of himself, a really wonderful chap. I then switch over to Vernon Kay and stay on 2 all day. As I can't stand any other DJ on Radio 1, I only listen to it for Greg and to hear the latest pop songs.

They do play way too much 80's on Radio 2 but I think their main audience will be Gen X and that will be 'their' music. Saturdays on Radio 2 are a bit more varied and have some great DJ's. I was old before my time in terms of music and Radio DJ's - I loved Terry Wogan and Johnnie Walker! I used to mainly listen to Shaun Keaveney (BBC 6 Music) in the mornings in my 20's with a bit of Terry!

Now i'm glad you said this because I was about to complain - hadn't realised she was poorly, she was off A LOT this year

I think that's actually why he gets paired up with people. He's very experienced and bounces off people really well in a two hander.

Molly was only meant to be the first of a bunch of celeb "guest DJs" when she first started. She did her two weeks and left and Matt got paired with the next one. But her and Matt worked so well together that they brought her back on a permanent basis.

Sometimes my son makes me listen to radio 1 in the evenings in the car for the dance music and to be fair it's not a complete disaster.

As I was born in 1979 I'm on the cusp of Gen X/early Millennial but I can't stand 80s music, it was before my time really and it sounds naff to me. I love 90s and 00s music as that represents my teens and my 20s, where's the station for that??
As radio 2 was playing plenty of 80s music 10 years ago (and probably also 20 years ago), surely it should be playing a lot of 90s/00s music by now? And if not, which station are the bbc expecting people my age to go to when they are "too old" for radio 1? It's a mystery.
