I do need a holiday, and I need people to focus on the OPs actual question like a grown up instead of using it as any opportunity to divert the topic around to preach about whatever their current self righteous personal project is; in this case, the state of the world and how OP needs to fix it by not going on holiday abroad.

You know fuck all about me or why I don’t feel being vegan is remotely healthy or ethical. You know fuck all about my diet or how much effort I do or do not go to. I’ve already said the last holiday I have was more than 5 years ago.

But no it isn’t ok to decide to fly somewhere for the hell of it for a weekend and contribute more carbon and more emissions. The OP is asking for suggestions as to where she goes - not because she has any pressing desire to go somewhere specific. She already has had multiple holidays this year and has more planned. So yes I am within my rights to question whether or not it’s necessary and to remind her of the current global climate crisis. I do not have to be perfect in order to do so.

Yeah, you do your bit, aka, what you feel like. Yet you feel sanctimonious about someone else doing the same, all because youre high and mighty about "the planet", whilst bot giving ebough if a shit to go vegan. A huge amount of unnecessary waste is created from non-vegan lifestyles yet you don't care enough to actually do something that requires effort. Many people have proven its safe to live a vegan lifestyle, so cut the "I don't think it's healthy" bullshit, like your opinion is science, and let OP get opinions on what she actually asked. You didn't ask for an arguement about why you're not vegan and OP didn't ask for your views on air travel so try and be a vit more live and let love until you're actually putting yourself out for your so called values

Flew to Bergamo last week 1 hr 40 and Geneva in June 1 hr 30 so you can get quite a way if the flights are good. This from NW England. I've got to Palma in under 2 hours with a tailwind also Nice under 2hrs.San Sebastian looks v.nice.

We’ve just been to San Sebastián. It’s such an easy city for the weekend. Everything is close by and we could walk to all bars/restaurants/beach/ back to hotel. A swim in the sea every morning. Plus it was really cheap. 3 Euros for a glass of wine. And the food is amazing. The place has such a good vibe too.

Furthest I’ve flown for a weekend was to Italy.

On holiday recently and one of my companions worked in the aircraft industry in Europe. I asked about climate issues and he told me it's boom time for aircraft especially private jets and luxury helicopters. Also airlines are putting in orders for new planes. Basically no one is cutting back. Netjets (private jet hire) has 5000 aircraft on its books. That's before we get to airlines. Ryanair has 651 aircraft. My empty seat won't make a difference except to me

My hybrid car can drive my family for 140 hours before it consumes the same amount of CO2 that my family would use up on a three hour flight.

Having said that, Rotterdam is a great place to visit!

If I could choose, I’d probably take a train down to Padstow and have a lovely weekend in Cornwall.
