I had a personal experience with a group set up for womens outdoor sport and health and it was all about women's bodies, coaching styles, mens macho attitudes, women's strength v technique, issues with privacy and dignity and not wishing to share with male and physical difficulties and two no heads with beards tittering like 12 year olds decided to come play 'can I join too?' thus destroying the entire purpose of the group.

There had been a similar presentation for an LGBTQ group immediately before.

This absolutely killed any sympathy DH had, never mind me (he has seen there a real need for womens networks in his two beloved sports).

Obviously this is totally unacceptable, but this type of harassment also happens to girls and women every day of the week. Men are the problem and this is male on male harassment.

Women can’t change men’s behaviour to trans women, towards young girls, towards women, towards gay men or towards lesbians.

Men are the problem, it is not right for women to shield some trans women from men and in doing so raise their own risk.

So giving children puberty blockers and cross sex hormones that leave them sexually underdeveloped, unable to have children or father children and even unable to feel a sexual pleasure is just fine, @MintGr33n? What about the fact that puberty blockers can stunt their intellectual development, at a critical time in their education?

Society decided that Lupron - a drug used as a common puberty blocker - should not be used to ‘chemically castrate’ sex offenders because the effects and side effects were too cruel - but it is just fine for this drug, and similar ones, to be given to confused young people?

I believe that studies have shown that, if given psychological and emotional support, but no medical or surgical treatment, many gender confused young people go on to lose that confusion and to become happy with who they are. Whereas, a child who is started on puberty blockers and hormones has a very, very high chance of going on to transition surgically - so puberty blockers are not a neutral act, allowing children to pause puberty while they make their minds up, they themselves push children towards a life of medical and surgical dependence.

And is it a good thing to tell impressionable youngsters that they can actually change sex? That is factually incorrect. Surgeons cannot create a fully functioning penis or vagina - and if a boy has taken puberty blockers, his penis will not grow and will not be big enough to create a neovagina, so a portion of bowel will have to be used - leading to a hole that not only cannot self clean or self lubricate, like a real vagina, but that may well also smell of faeces.

Girls who have a neophallus created end up with massive scars where the skin and muscle that forms the tube is harvested. I do not believe that children who are put onto puberty blockers are told the full truth about the where the path that they have stepped onto actually leads, and by the time they get further down it, it is too late, and the effects, both medical and surgical, on their bodies, cannot be reversed, even if they decide they are no longer ‘trans’.

I cannot see how all of this can be anything other than abuse.

I am not saying that confused and distressed young people should be abandoned or ignored. They should get counselling and support - that is truly neutral treatment. They should not be getting any medical or surgical treatment until they are adults and have been fully informed of all the risks involved in transitioning.

Like convincing children they are born in the wrong body, and getting them on experimental drugs or bullying women into giving up single sex spaces?
