AIBU to think of course all the anti-trans posts on this website and others are leading to real life harm?

Just seen a video of a trans woman minding her business in a train station getting horribly bullied by some Tommy Robinson wanna-be and couldn't help but think back to all the aggressive threads I've seen on Mumsnet.

Pages and pages of vilifying innocent trans people, calling them perverts and all sorts with zero evidence of anything of the sort of course would lead to people like this harassing and attacking trans people in public. I've see a few of so-called GC brigade say 'this isn't what we wanted' but it is the end, isn't it? If you do see trans people as disgusting abusive perverts trying to sneak into your changing rooms and hurt your daughter, you'd want them to be bashed in public yeah?

Am I wrong to think their chickens are coming home to roost and certain posters will want to claim they never had a hand in it all?

I've never made either argument as I'm not trans, just frequently enjoy this board had have seen a suspicious increase in posts about trans people that are barely thinly veiled as AIBU posts

I’m not speaking of you as an individual, but the ‘pro trans’ movement as a whole. Always the same victimhood schtik.

X not giving Y what they think they’re entitled to does not make X responsible for the actions of Z. Women are not obliged to pander to men dressed as women in order to save them from other men. Leave women the fuck out of it.

Ponderingwindow · 14/09/2026 15:58

I agree. If people are truly gender critical, then how a person chooses to style themselves should not matter.

The vitriol on this site often makes me uncomfortable.

Beece · 14/09/2026 15:58

I see trans identifying men that try to use women’s single sex spaces, sports, jobs etc disgusting abusive perverts (see the Giggle v Tickle case - that man is utterly vile!), but the vast majority of trans identifying men respect women and would never dream of doing so. They just want to go about their day in peace, and should be allowed to do so.

I’d call this a valid attempt at Sophistry, but you’ve not even managed that. Needs work, and a lot of it.

Gone from “if you don’t pander to me I’ll hurt myself”, to “if you don’t pander to me then other people will hurt me”. It’s the same shit with a filter over it.

100%
Exactly this.

Men commit most of the violent and sexual crime. Women are fearful of increasing political and social pressure to ‘be kind’ legal loopholes where dangerous and opportunist men can adopt an identity which gives them access to women’s spaces, sports, awards etc.

We all know of vulnerable and gentle trans people, but where do you reconcile the needs of women for safety, dignity, fairness and privacy? Are we not allowed to talk about the threat to that? It’s pretty significant.

Shutting down debate on this, and gormlessly blaming MN for a single incident that happened on a train goes against all the principles that your bleeding heart appears to advocate for. What about the hundreds and thousands of women that are assaulted daily on public transport? Why don’t you care about them.

Why do you spend so much time focused on trans people instead of actually helping women? It's not trans people hurting them, it's not even men pretending to be trans hurting them.

If you get what you want, trans people no longer seen nor heard, and women and girls are still hurt, what then? Because through all this trans panic, SA rates have in fact not gone down.

Exibit A for those doubting this is how you come across.

'a lot of chaps are well aware that public cross-dressers are compulsively displaying a fetish. Not everyone is prepared to accept that.'

Zero evidence of anything of the sort and implying being 'not prepared to accept it' is an excuse for public harassment.

Male on male violence and aggression is not caused by women having concerns about men.

you’re a misogynist.

Who said the posters I am referring to are women? Mumsnet is in fact not a single sex space

So youre blaming a very very small number of men who post on Mumsnet for something a man has done to another man?

No. We are sick of trolls barging in and derailing threads on purpose. I've seen perfectly good discussions derailed by nonsense.

harderthanIexpected · 14/09/2026 15:51

I am a sex realist and believe that single sex spaces and protections are essential for the safely and dignity of women and girls, and also important for the dignity of boys and men in many circumstances.

I absolutely refute that this position makes me complicit in transphobic abuse, either online or in person.

Megifer · 14/09/2026 15:50

Sorry, are you blaming women for something a man has done to another man?

chattyness · 14/09/2026 15:50

Most women don't want anyone to be bashed in public or otherwise, we just want our single sex spaces, facilities, healthcare, sports & services to remain female only. If men in dresses would just stay out of them and campaign for their own instead then everyone would happier.

Zimunya · 14/09/2026 15:49

I am GC in that I totally see the value of women and girls having safe, single sex spaces - regardless of whether they are toilets, refuges, changing rooms or shelters. That doesn't mean I see trans people in the way you describe above. It's possible to acknowledge the dangers / difficulties without wanting to see every trans person "bashed in public". This seems like a very polarised viewpoint.

Soontobe60 · 14/09/2026 15:47

Man abusing another man in public and posting on social media is not the fault of women. But as usual, we get the blame. Misogyny writ large.

smallglassbottle · 14/09/2026 15:46

Don't be silly. Voicing legitimate concerns are absolutely necessary.

corlan · 14/09/2026 15:44

If you see a post vilifying trans people, report it. If you have evidence of any posts attacking trans people that have been allowed to stand, then please show your receipts. I suspect you don't have any....

Ablondiebutagoody · 14/09/2026 15:43

Yeah, I suspect the Tommy Robinson wanna be is an avid mumsnet reader.
