Just seen a video of a trans woman minding her business in a train station getting horribly bullied by some Tommy Robinson wanna-be and couldn't help but think back to all the aggressive threads I've seen on Mumsnet.

Pages and pages of vilifying innocent trans people, calling them perverts and all sorts with zero evidence of anything of the sort of course would lead to people like this harassing and attacking trans people in public. I've see a few of so-called GC brigade say 'this isn't what we wanted' but it is the end, isn't it? If you do see trans people as disgusting abusive perverts trying to sneak into your changing rooms and hurt your daughter, you'd want them to be bashed in public yeah?

Am I wrong to think their chickens are coming home to roost and certain posters will want to claim they never had a hand in it all?

I think mumsnet has played a part in changing the direction of the discourse around trans people/issues and that change in discourse has led to legislation as well as more openly hateful behaviour from the general public towards trans people, yes.
It's an academic debate that has got WAY out of hand IMO. I really feel for trans people, and trans women in particular at the moment.

A necessary change in direction, though.

All any of it boils down to is:

Women are female
You cannot change sex
Sometimes women need female only things

its that simple

Some times trans people will also need their own unique considerations too. And that's ok. By lumping them with the wrong sex, that may actually harm them.

See healthcare for an example.

I just wonder who the Mumsnetter's will blame once they've had their precious way and women are still being attacked and SA'd by men. Perhaps then they will see it is men that are the problem, and by deflecting away from that because they dislike what they do not understand or refuse to educate themselves on; will indeed result in further harm to women.

You are correct: men are the problem.

Transwomen are men.

Their clothes aren't the issue, their male bodies and statistical behaviour patterns are the issue.

Mostly it doesn’t matter if you are male or female but there are a few circumstances where it does so we segregate for safety, privacy and dignity.

The clothes a person is wearing and how they feel about themselves makes no difference at all to ensuring safety, dignity and privacy.

So yes, if a law was passed tomorrow saying that the whole of the UK population had to shave their heads and wear grey boiler suits and boots there would still be people with male bodies raping, sexually assaulting and murdering people with female bodies.

The clothes are irrelevant to the need for occasional segregation and different treatment, it’s the bodies that are important.

heathspeedwell · 14/09/2026 16:08

The good news is that crimes against trans people have fallen dramatically since 2023, when the police finally started to realise that misgendering is not, in fact, a crime.

Transwomen are actually more likely to commit murder than to be murdered in the UK, so clearly Mumsnet isn't causing men to be violent to transwomen.

That's really interesting, do you have a source?

I think all the anti women shit leads to a lot more harm

OP yes this incident was definitely caused by mumsnet, and also Putin invaded Ukraine after reading an MN thread on city breaks in Kiev.

This is the best post on the thread 😂

dreamingofgoodhair · 14/09/2026 17:33

Anti trans ? Or anti men in dresses calling themselves women?

Gloriia · 14/09/2026 17:33

Wooptydodah · 14/09/2026 17:26

You are absolutely not being unreasonable, but we all knew how this thread was going to go. MN is hugely anti-trans, even though they’ll never admit that’s what their hatred amounts to. The word ‘transphobia’ is always shot down if anyone dares accuse one of them of it.

Everyone would agree making a negative generalisation about a black person would be racist. Everyone would agree making a negative generalisation about an older person would be ageist. Everyone would agree making a negative generalisation about a disabled person would be ableist. Making a negative generalisation about a trans person however, such as all trans women being fetishists who are a danger to cis women, absolutely not transphobic at all and how dare you suggest it!?

Cue my inevitable flaming.

We aren't anti trans, men can dress as they wish and call themselves what they like. You just cannot change sex and therefore men cannot use women only facilities.

backformoreofthesame · 14/09/2026 17:33

So if we all identified as Tommy Robinson woukd the OP change their tune ?

The man with the camera is bullying and harassing the man sitting down. It’s absolutely unacceptable behaviour.

Men’s bad behaviour is not is the fault of women campaigning for women’s rights.

May I direct your attention to these as you are demonstrating #1 beautifully:

The Rules of Misogyny

  1. Women are responsible for what men do.
  2. Women saying no to men is a hate crime.
  3. Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
  4. Women's opinions are violence against men thus male violence against women is justified.
  5. Women and Feminism must be useful to men or they are worthless.
  6. Women who go around being female AT men by menstruating and breast feeding babies deserve punishment.
  7. Women should always be grateful to men for everything.
  8. Men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.
  9. Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say.
  10. The worst thing about male violence is that it males men look bad.
  11. Basic pattern recognition skills are cruel and evil when they hurt men's feelings.
  12. Whatever women suffer from, men suffer from more.
  13. Women are not oppressed! Rape and catcalling and objectification are all compliments, not oppression.
  14. Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent.

Perfect

It is transphobic to say men are not women if the men says they are a woman

it is transphobic to disagree with any transgender person on anything

transphobia is a meaningless word these days

Please educate me - at what point on the journey from 'man' to 'woman' does a trans identified man become no longer a risk? And how will I know?
Please educate me as to why these men become a sacred caste who can do no wrong just because they now say they are women?
Keeping in mind the Ministry of Justice stats that clearly show trans identified men offend at the same rate and in the same ways as men. Not as the women they claim to be.

Who on MN was beating anyone up?

who in MN has ever said trans people should be beaten up ?

no one?

but it’s MN fault ?

how ?

is there a secret PM group that is coordinating violence against transgender people?

is there a secret code invoking Mexican hats and Naice ham that actually means “transgender person spotted , get out their with your baseball bats girls “

The OP would never have the courage to take on the Tommy Robinson types on account of their terrible behaviour.

But she can’t resist a swipe at women who have the temerity to stand up their rights.

🙄

But be honest, in your ideal world, are they? Or do you really dream of a society where trans people don't exist?

You have posted that you dislike ‘all the anti-trans’ posts here, and then proceed to whip up the kind of discussion you supposedly abhor, probably to strengthen your point a bit.
Why raise the matter? Your simplistic argument is not going to change anyone’s mind.

Where is this transphobia, please give us some examples of what you are talking about about?

You seem to have missed the glaring point that these men are demanding access to women’s spaces.

So it’s a safeguarding point and damn straight we are going to call out behaviour that puts women at additional risk.

Or do you believe women need to just roll over and accept that, because me demands are more important than their safety and dignity?

This incident has got zero to do with Mumsnet, but of course the minority of posters who disapprove of women’s sex based rights will pop up to have a dig at those who stand up for them.

Am I wrong to think their chickens are coming home to roost and certain posters will want to claim they never had a hand in it all?

I would say the chickens coming home to roost are due to the trans activists who have pushed and pushed and pushed, and threatened, and had tantrums, and generally been vile to anyone who doesn’t agree with them. People are sick of the manipulation and guilt tripping, and sick of being told they are nazis and bigots because they want single sex spaces. And sick of being told what are acceptable opinions and what ones warrant death threats or cancellation. And I’m personally sick of seeing men dressed like little girls or porn stars wandering around the area I live. They creep everyone out and no one, absolutely no one, really sees them as women.

So I’m sorry that trans people are being hurt as I would not wish that on anyone, but if you want to look at who to blame then I would firmly direct my gaze in the direction of the men who perpetrate this violence, and the TRAs who have overstepped the mark for years which has contributed to the backlash TIMs are now facing.

Well said.

EnjoythemoneyJane · 14/09/2026 17:26

helpfulucy · 14/09/2026 15:58

Why do you spend so much time focused on trans people instead of actually helping women? It's not trans people hurting them, it's not even men pretending to be trans hurting them.

If you get what you want, trans people no longer seen nor heard, and women and girls are still hurt, what then? Because through all this trans panic, SA rates have in fact not gone down.

Or … how about you rewind to when and how the real damage was actually done to the trans community? Which was by TRAs aggressively campaigning to overturn the provisions of the Equality Act - under which gender reassignment was given equal weight as a protected characteristic alongside being biologically female.

In seeking to institute blanket self ID with zero checks or limitations, conflate the categories of ‘woman’ and ‘transwoman’ (thereby nullifying the word ‘woman’ as a verifiable characteristic and definition for all legal purposes), and conflate every subset of paraphiliac, cross-dresser and fetishist under the all-encompassing umbrella of ‘transness’, the TRAs themselves created a situation in which a backlash against this fucking madness was inevitable. Thankfully.

Prior to any of this I never, in my entire (long) life, heard any woman express anything other than sympathy for trans people. There was never any question that they should not be included and protected under the Equality Act.

But the determination of an aggressive minority to overturn women’s rights and protections, and intimidate, dox and bulldoze into submission anyone who objected, has led to the current status quo. I feel very sorry for all those trans people who were quietly living their lives prior to this utter shitshow. They now have little choice other than to be associated with the people who have engineered this outcome in the name of some ideological war that nobody else was fighting in the first place.

And nothing says ‘entitled man’ more than the whining victimhood of be-penised people who’ve been told ‘no’.
